Too bad the kid is too young to decide for himself. If I had a one year old, I know I wouldn't pierce his ears. But that's just me. I think more often than not parents think more about themselves than their children, and I can't see any reason why somebody would want to piece the ears of an infant.
Me, I would wait till he is old enough to decide to want one but then what the hell its not my child.
Personally, I can't stand to see a guy with only one ear pierced. It's like off balance or something. I would never submit a 1 year old to that humiliation. If he wants his EARS done later cool , but at one year old, it's like WTF???
my mom got my ears pierced when i before i was 5 and i still remember it. it was an awful experience and just pissed me off after i was done crying like a bitch. i remember the lady tried to give me mirror to see how "pretty my ears were" and i slapped it out of her hand
Here is a thread that was I started in the parenting column the other day.....My girls want earrings. There is a lot of good input in here! Good Luck http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175080
I wouldn't do it when he's so young let him decide later on if he wants it with guys especially, it's much more of a personal choice than with chicks.... most femme's have their ears pierced, but it's a more individual thing with guys. I got mine pierced when I was 8, but they grew back in because I took my earrings out a little too early and then got really sick - couldn't clean 'em properly while sick so I just let htem grow back in. I got them repierce at 12 or so, then my nose pierced at 16 heehee But yeah, when he wants it himself let him get it done. And then he can take care of it himself too
I don't believe in piercing ANY child's ears until they ask for it and are old enough to care for it themselves. It's painful and traumatic and is a much higher risk for infection and migration at that age (especially since they're always playing with them and pulling on them).
yup it sucked big time. at that age i wasnt interested in earrings... i still wanted to make muddpies and roll down hills
