Haha, one of the best things about going barefoot is when you can go camping and your tough feet just can protect you from anything. Even my young boys can put their foot on an ember and it's just a temporary black scorch mark on their sole and that's it.

My friends have always watched in amaz
Personally, I think every kid (and adult) should be able to do that. Back when I first started, my feet were soft from wearing shoes and socks all those pre-teen years. After a few weeks, that changed, and I was proud to to walk on gravel or stub out someone's cigarette with my tough bare feet.

The callous that you build up is pretty resilient and you can almost go places and do things that shod people do. There may be exceptions.

I agree, but I doubt more than .1 percent of people can keep their bare foot on a red hot cigarette stub without squealing. It really makes you feel like you are raising tanks when you see your kids running on sharp, rocky, gravel or thorny scrub barefoot than the average kid can run shod on tarmac.

We are, but it should be a basic expectation ya know? No kid should be wearing shoes and socks and flip-flops more than a couple of times a year, unless for formal events or mad weather. Any kid should be able to step on a thorn barefoot and pull it out without flinching. Heck, every child SHOULD have the opportunity to step on a thorn or a bit of glass, they should not be wearing anything on their feet in the first place! It's part of the experience. Everybody gets a splinter in their thumbs every know and then but nobody wears gloves 24/7. You'll step on glass and have it penetrate and bleed maybe at most 1 every 100 days on average. Kids who live in places like LA or temperate areas probably don't have a reason to own day to day footwear in the first place!

Sorry, wrong place for a rant. This is a barefoot sub anyways.

Wow, you seem to be fussed. I do agree. Footwear should not be mandatory- period!

No need to apologise! This is a perfect rant all children worldwide have the right to be barefoot whenever and wherever they want to be especially school. Heck even us adults should be barefoot everywhere without it being frowned upon.

[IMG] Haha, when my boys play outside, their feet look like this but 3 times worse, although the goatheads we deal with are definitely a bit smaller than these ones. The best thing about being barefoot is when your soles are so thick that things can get stuck in them and it's like your own naturally grown pair of shoes, except you can feel the ground and you have dexterity. There really is no point for shoes in daily life outside of a factory or construction site!

Wow I dunno if those are your soles but they are very tough looking indeed and impressive. I have wimpy feet with little chances for barefoot outside of home so I admire such toughness. Yeah I've heard some people can step on almost anything without a care.
