I guess some of you have never set DeathWatch over a dying loved one, never watched as they lay in agony losing weight to the point they're skelator , to sit and listen to their cry's of pain, knowing they is no hope of survival.

To look into their tombstone eyes as they beg you for mercy, clutching to you in desperation, for help, for final peace.

I was so challenged, as I stood vigil over my sister. I was hard pressed not to give her release from the bounds of death which she was caught in. The stages as seizures would shake her fragile frame and the sounds of horror coming from deep within her Being.

I was tempted to the point of what the law would consider murder. I could not trust myself with giving her meds to her any longer. I handed the liquid relief over to her daughter, saying to her. I am too close to your mama not to end her misery. I love her enough to stop it for her. I cannot be trusted not to do so.

It was something she said while she was still lucid. Her other daughter and I had just helped to the potty and back, and when she was getting back in bed, she said.
" Where's Kevorkian When You Need Him"

My niece and I looked at each other and we knew that she was wanting it to end, she was wanting ME to end it for her. I was not strong enough to do it. I wanted to. Once I almost did but my higherself would not allow it. I would have never been able to live with myself or look her children in the eye. I would have carried it in my Soul forever.

I would have to say from experience that it would be kinder if in the last stages of cancer, etc. That the doctors could end the suffering for the person and their families. What would be the difference between that and unplugging some one from life support. They leave it up to the families whether or not to unplug. But they will put you in prison if you give them help getting to the otherside.

BTW, Hospice brings the meds and leaves it to the family, if there is family. They come daily and come if you call them. They left some of the most powerful drugs made in the hands of lay ppl. to administer at will. There is not usually an autopsy with fatal diseases so the amount of narcotic in their system would go unnoticed.

So I do agree that they give you the ability to end it if you/your family decides to.

This one was a hard one,

Yes I agree that everyone life is there own and they can do with it what they wish, however the judgement "then and there" may not really reflect there best interests for example if they are having a particular 'down' in there life, it may be to easy of an escape for people,

Saying that I believe people whom live in pain the very elderly or certain illnesses causing a painful death, yes I believe they should have the option after many talks of course

    That's my two cents :)

I think everyone has aright to live or choose to die, but the thing with euthanasia is that no one thinks about the people who have to assist with the suicide and how it affects them too. They have to deal with essentially killing people and I would think that takes a toll on people.

We were put here on this earth to give something back not to steal or minus out our fellow brothers and sisters as the will of our lord.:sunny:
God wants us to love each other and help each other and be known as
peacemakers and lovers of the unlovely.:sunny:

It is not the job of a physician to kill and take away our fellow citizen's.
Everyone makes a few small mistakes, but we are created equal in the eyes of the Lord and in the sight of the Almighty.

Let us help each other and be sweet and patient and see miracles and the
true healing power of our God.

So the good Lord will heal our nation and bless our land and our children.:sunny:

The doctor makes no decision about whether or not a person dies with respect to physician assisted suicide; it is the sole decision of the one who chooses to die.

If the person is in pain and wants to die, then let that person choose who will help em end life in a peaceful way.

If I was in the hospital, and I had a terminal illness then you bet your ass I'm going to ask for assisted suicide, hell, just give me the syringe with a lethal dose and I'll do it myself.
Ive heard of people suffering so much with their illness before they die, and it's sad that they have to go through pain and suffering during their last moments

Since it's illegal in most places in the states your request would probably be denied.

    It is sad and unnecessary.

I think it's immoral to force a person to stay alive when they don't want to. It's far too presumptuous.

That all depends on who you talk to. Most vegans and other herbalists say that doctors are controlled by the FDA. I don't necessarily believe that, but I think it's really weird that a doctor would automatically prescribe a pill for something that can be treated with diet and exercise and isn't exactly life threatening, like frickin Viagra.

However, I believe it is up to the individual if they want to end their own life or not. I've seen people at the end of their life in major pain or asleep until they pass away. That's just a waste of medicine and raising the medical bill.

I honestly don't understand why religion and politics should be put aside on a debate such as this. So I will put in my two cents. I guess regarding religion in the Christian faith if you commit you won't goto heaven. So yeah...

i say yes, and i have dealt with my father committing suicide. maybe if there was the option for him to consider it with a doctor, the doctor could have helped him to prevent it all the while still acknowledging the fact that if he wanted to he could. also what about people whom are terminally ill, should they have the right to end the pain humanely so they don't have to live with the pain. just saying.
