How can you dis DSO when you love the boyz? They are incredible. I know its not the same, but for the youngin's who have never seen a 70s show, etc. they are off the hook. They are light years past the current Dead in my opinion.
If you go to shows to hang out in the lot you're missing *IT* there is no current Dead line up. No plans for a summer tour. Oh yeah, Phish is no longer a band either (in case nobody told you)
The fact they dumped the shitter on their bus in my friend's drive, getting it all over a very sweet brother(not an accident, just thoughtless) And I would rather see original music than an over glorified cover band that is doing something exactly as it has already been done. Just my opinion. I didn't say they blow, just that I would pass.
Ouch. I hear ya. What's up with bands emptying their shiter in the wrong places. Well anyway, I know it seems like they kind of defeat the whole point of a live Grateful Dead show, but I didn't feel like they recreated it, I felt like they gave it new life.
Yeah, they are fun and very damn good...but I dunno why it buggers me. I just don't like shelling out for someone that is trying to make money on what has already been done. Seems like a sell out, cop out, I dunno. Doesn't seem to be what its all about to me. Look at all the kinds of music Jerry played and the people he played with. I just know I only have so much time and money to spend on music venues and I would rather support people that are trying to do their own thing. Rather support originality than someone making a buck offa copying the GD
I didn't see them either for a long time for the same reasons. I didn't think I would like it either. They were playing in a smaller town north of SF, where I was living last year, so I thought I would check them out. I was more than impressed. I haven't had such a good time since Jerry was around. Plus I was young, 16 in 94/95, when I started going to shows. My first tour was spring '95. It was incredible to hear such juicy jams. Oh yeah, Donna showed up and sang a few on stage...she was up there with her eyes closed, her hands crossed over her heart, I know she was feelin' what I was feeling...that this was one damn frickin' crazy jam too close to care about the difference!
I think that comparing GD to Phish is kinda like comparing apples to oranges. Phish is cool but I prefer the GD.
