I assume you are talking about descartes circular arguments in the mediatations Descartes pushed the frontiers of thought but also infused religion and the concept of the "soul" in philosophy... and thus philosophy has suffered. ...and his arguments in the mediations about the existence of god are clearly refutable by being circular. or if you were talking about his cosmological argument then, yes. There are lot of other possibilities as well... a static 4-d space-time, for example, with causality as a totally human construct.
