Peterson gets death

when they give someone the death sentence they should just put them in a corner of the courtroom and shoot them there and then

 

Texas is working on something like this. It's a "death sentence express lane". If there are 3 or more credible witnesses you're supposed to be rushed to your death... dunno if it ever actually passed or not.

 

i knew, but for some reason i don't care too much. i'm not about the death penalty at all, and i really dislike how media covers things like these... it's like they're saying "hey! at least your life isn't as bad as this guys'..."

 

well that is a good law, i think. though i dont really believe in it, but honestly that is the most civil way for all involved. for the person sentenced as well.
and it would definately have to be proven beyond proven without a resonable doubt

still though, flip the coin... let's set an example by killing, when we don't want people to kill in the first place... doesn't make much sense...

Here's the problem with capital punishment: A few years ago they DNA tested several prisoners on death row in Illinios. These were people who were convicted before DNA testing became admissable.

I think it was something like 16 inmates, some of whom had been on death row for more than a decade, were proven innocent.

As far as the Peterson case, I didn't follow the trial because, well fuck, people get killed everyday. Why was this case so special?

I think with all the exposure this case got it would have been impossible to find an impartial jury so how was it a fair trial?

 

Just because it's in the news does not mean that it's important. The media show you what sells, not always what is important. I just don't understand why people really care about Scott Peterson... he's just some random, boring, lame-ass guy who went off his rocker and killed his wife.

This isn't anything new. Murders happen everyday. I don't understand why this case got so much press. They turned a woman's murder into a stupid reality show. If I were her parents, I'd be pissed. The stupid networks like CourtTV made a killing off of exploiting a poor woman's murder. I think it's bullshit and basically not even newsworthy.

I think it reached people because she was pretty, pregnant, and missing first.

There was hope that she and the baby would be found. When she wasn't, it was really sad. She was a young woman on the verge of realizing the perfect american dream.......it hit close to home.

I saw it when it was announced, and the forums were having problems so I couldnt post it......

but yeah, Im kinda shocked they gave him the death penalty...... the jury must know beyond reasonable doubt that he did kill his wife and unborn son........ they must have seen evidence that most of us havent seen.

 

the case was so special because they were pretty people and they lived in modesto california.

I can understand reporting on the search for Laci that happened earlier, and I can understand reporting on when they found him guilty... but 24 hours news coverage of this shit? Complete crap... it's not even news. It's talk TV.

that kind of shit happens all the time in the big city, and all that happens is a slot on the local 10 oclock news, usually.

 

its sad isnt it.....we just had a discussion about this at my house this evening. my parents were wondering how the hell i am so out of it as far as the news goes. i let them know that i chose to put in my system the things that matter to me...yes i will find out about world events, but other than that, the news does nothing for me. i would rather filter what i watch and read and concentrate on me and making me the best i can be. where do i have time to know about the fact that there was an arson in dc again today....

now....i do know about this case, of course, cause you would have had to live under a rock...but some things, lol, like princess diana's death, i had no clue for 3 days. colunbine....yep a month. no clue. lol...i know that is horrible, but that shit just doesnt make me feel good. i know its reality. but i also know that the fact that my neighbor is sad is reality too. and that is where i would rather put my energies.
