Perverts Anonymous.

We all know Alcoholics Anonymous right? Well sometime in the future I'm thinking of starting a forum called "Perverts Anonymous" (PA.) Perversion that gets in the way of people living a normal life should be treated as a mental health issue. It would also be good for people wishing to explore pornography addiction. My only fear is it would potentially be hard to moderate, as it could attract a lot of trolls and real whack-jobs.

What do you think?

 

I think that is a bad idea, for the reasons that you have already stated.

 

I'm thinking that one way of getting around the whack-job problem would be to get new members to submit an email to me giving a profile of themselves, so I can better gauge their level of seriousness and suitability. I know of one existent forum that does this.

starting any forum is crazy difficult. you need a group of posters to start with since nobody wants to join a forum that has no current posts, and then you need to get in good with google so new people can actually find your forum.

that said, the concept is good. but like you already said, it will attract a lot of problem posters, so it will need to be well moderated. normally i would say non-moderation is fine and let people fight their own battles. but a perverts anonymous forum would be likely to end up with somebody posting child porn, or other similar issues.

 

Maybe the mods could just combine all the perv threads, i.e., the panty sniffers, daughter fuckers, men that want to see their wives fucked, etc., into one thread and then some lucky person would be in charge of moderating the damn thing. It also shouldn't show up in the 'new posts' section.

 

You forgot the threesome and moresome bullshit.

To OP, your call , of course with what you want to do with your life...but why would you want to surround yourself with them all day?
I try to get away from people like that....far away.

Well it sounds like his goal is to help them with their problem, which is really pretty admirable. I know lots of people who work in social service jobs and surround themselves with drug addicts, thieves, and other similar types all the time. I sure as hell don't think less of them for it, quite the opposite really.

Of course, it is admirable....and I was going to suggest if that was his goal, to go into psychology when he is meeting people one on one and helping them....as some people really want and need the help...but on the internet? Hardly anything is what it seems. People are not who they say they are, and they are very good at hiding who they really are....hard to catch on right away sometimes...they are that good.......and I don't see many people on the internet really wanting real help for it.

Yeah, everything you say here is true. Although even if he did this through one on one meetings he is still surrounding himself with perverts, just in a different setting.

I really don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I do know that different people need different approaches, so while the one on one appointment might work for one guy, I guarantee there's someone else that could be reached, but only through a different medium. Maybe it's an internet forum, maybe not. At least he's doing some brainstorming on it, so I give him credit for that.
