Why is it that every man knows exactly how long and wide their penis is?

If someone said they had a 6 inch penis, I have no idea if I should be happy or upset? If it feels good, I like it. I have never measured or cared to.

I use to be insecure about mine so insecure but everyone I have been with has told me the more delicate looking the better...but still sometimes my legs just won't open because I'm so shy about exposing them so my thigh muscles just close and it's frustrating i have to like pry them apart with my arms...its horrible.
