what does the modern day hippie look like to you?

I live in New York City, lots of hippies here. Lots of non hippies, lots of people from all over the world, just lots of people in general.

 

I thought hippies were like sasquatch and the loch Ness monster.

If they did exist I would like to be one some day. Legends say they have magical powers and stuff.

 

hippie is just another stereotype, man. My wife and I have both been called it before. I believe that the people should be natural and free. I believe the world should be honored and cherished. I believe life should be lived simple and pure. I believe that it is my duty to live as I see necessary. If this vibe makes me a hippie in other's eyes then so be it, man.

I think its really anti-hippie of "hippies" to stereotype people based on the way they think hippies should look and act 100% of the time.

 

I think "being a hippy" is more of a state of mind and a world view than an a look, a style or a fashion. (But what do I know? I was too young to be apart of it in the '60s)

IMO the word "Hippie" means a person who seeks non-violent solutions to all different types of Mankind's conflicts. In that respective, the amount of "Hippies" here wouldn't even be a percentage. There's not even enough Hippies here to make a Hippie to Yuppie Ratio. It's mostly Yuppies, Hipsters and, Liberals. Non-violent Humanitarians who believe in peace and Human Rights are few and far between.

 

I reckon it's a very low percentage to be honest. But that's good, as it means more hippies than it might seem are out there ^_^

 

Stop trying to fit in so hard with what a stereotype wants from you, man. For instance typing 'man' all the time it's obnoxious. Drop the label and live as you.
