I am very passionate about music and so is my boyfriend (he's a musician), but it never bothers me if people don't listen to music. An ex of mine actually hated music. He didn't know any songs and was annoyed when I sang out loud. Looking back at it, that was a bad relationship for a lot of reasons. This actually reminded me of a conversation I had with a girl at work a few weeks ago. She was really annoying and terrible at her job and is no longer working there, but I digress. Her: do you like One Direction? Me: no. Her: well what about Katy Perry or Taylor Swift? Me: no, not really... Her: oh, I guess you don't like music then. Because that's the only music out there apparently...
My boyfriend just mentioned a condition called amusia. It encompasses tone deaf people, but is more severe for some. Some people can't comprehend music no matter what, so that could explain my ex at least. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amusia
I listen to very few new artists....and if I do find one, I find out they've been around for awhile so everybody already thinks they're passe. The newest one I've discovered is Loreena Mckennitt and she hit the big time in 1985. So I listen to 50's, 60's, and early 70's music mostly in my car on a hard drive. There's so much good old music I don't bother looking for anything new unless it hits me on the head. Music has become sorta like an old pair of shoes for me, I guess. Looking for a concert to go to now but most of the people I listen to gave up touring or are dead. Last concert was Eric Burdon about two years ago, if anyone remembers him.
I think if the only music out there was Mumford or Adele then I would not listen to music. I guess it's possible for someone to just not really enjoy any music. Like if everything annoyed me like Mumford and Adele fucking annoy me. I just don't get what all the fuss is about with this Mumford or Adele. Well, I kind of do want to howl like a dog when I hear Adele... "Never mind, I'll find someone like yoouuuw wooo wooooooooo wooooooooo". So that's something.
Music is my thing and always has been But I Never listen to the radio even though I have one in my workshop Boss says " why dont you have the radio on " I reply " because I like music" he just shakes his head and walks out
I've never met someone who claimed to not listen to music, either. Some people like really terrible or weird music, but I think just about every single person I know likes some genre passionately.
And I really hate mute guys that dont use Skype I do like deaf dumb and blind people that play a mean pinball
I had an epiphany last month, when I realised I am finally sick of listening to Reign in Blood, took 29 years and about 10,000 plays Disconcerting because it was the only thing that was a sure thing for a couple decades there So by proxy, I think that means I am sick of music
that's all well and good if you own a car, or live in a small town like i grew up in, where the wilderness is only a couple of miles or less away. do you know what percentage of people don't have that opportunity? more then 90 per cent of people, and that's in america, in more densely populated places i'm sure the number is greater, live in cities, more then half who do, don't live there as their first choice. in america, when i grew up, poor people could live outside of cities, today, you either have to be a slave to car payments, or have a very large inhieritance. so the answer to your question is no, most people can't. the "right" to be inconsiderate, has another name: its called tyranny. and that is why aggressiveness is evilness and filth. earphones are one of the great inventions, and have better sound quality then speakers anyway.
yeah, lots of poor people live in the country. or at least close enough to it that they can get there if they want. i usually try to live in the last apartment complex at the end of the city. kind of allows for the best of both worlds (or at least some of both worlds, if not necessarily the best). unfortunately, i can't seem to find decent jobs in my field in the city, so i keep ending up living on the edge of small towns instead.
I find country/western music revolting so I suppose it’s possible for someone to have a dislike for all music. I just haven’t met anyone who doesn’t have an appreciation for some type of music. Easy Listening Rock Country Folk Jazz Hip Hop R&B Soul Pop Disco Lambada Blues Classical Punk Acid Reggae Latin Grunge Heavy Metal Etc…………. Hotwater
I enjoy lots of early country, check these out: Western swing such as The Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry. Roy Clack playing Guitar Boogie, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Flatt and Scruggs, Hank williams, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins Not to mention Rockabilly Then there's John Denver, Glen Campbell, and such. But Neocountry, circa 1980 and on sucks.
I know people like that who don't have much of a music interest. I can't wrap my head around the fact that some people out there don't listen to music or have a few favorite bands. My little brother is like this. He doesn't have any music preferences. Although he does know what he dislikes. He has a few songs in his iTunes library which are mostly video game music techno and orchestrated remixes. Most people I know who don't listen to music are often bland and uninteresting people for the most part in my experience.
Bob Dylan on having Idols ( and HE was Mine ) Woody Guthrie was my last idol / he was the last idol / because he was the first idol / I'd ever met / that taught me / fact t face / that men are men / shatterin even himself / as an idol / an that men have reasons / for what they do / an what they say / an every action can be questioned / leavin no command / untouched an took for granted / obeyed and bowed down to / forgettin your own natural instincts - from the sleeve notes to the album The Times They Are A-Changin', released in January 1964 by Colombia Records. Woody never made me fear / and he didn't trample any hopes / for he just carried a book of Man / and gave it t me t read awhile - from the sleeve notes to the album The Times They Are A-Changin', released in January 1964 by Colombia
I literally listen to music 10+ hours a day everyday, so yes, these no music listeners are not someone i'd relate with And I've met only one person who didn't listen to any type of music, and he felt soul-less
