not boring for me. i think it's fascinating. my father is half irish, half cherokee (though there has to be some white in there, grandpa had blue eyes). he has almost no connection whatsoever with his indian heritage because his dad's family didn't like his irish wife. people all react to it so differently. me, i'm just whitey. i was in a very mixed race neighborhood when i was small, so i got categorized by the most obvious point of reference.
that's spectacular, isn't it? btw, what his cinco de mayo about, anyway? when i was little, we'd learn all sorts of songs, dress in constumes and parade around and eat good food. but i never did have any idea why.
I'm doing Dia De Los Muertos this year. And I HATE people with "Von Dutch" merchandise. Von Dutch was a guy who lived to pinstripe, and who didn't care much about anything else, including celebrity or hawking stuff to make money. He lived out of his van and when he realised he was getting to be a brand and popular he dropped out and made knives. If he worked on your car by God you were gonna get what he thought was gonna be painted there, not what you wanted. 99.999% of the time it was perfect, and awesome. He'd be SPINNING over in his grave to realise that his name, his logo etc. was being used to hawk overpriced T-shirts to the Paris Hilton set.
Mexico's independance from France of all things. Cinco De Mayo's one of my favorite holidays, chillax all day drinking cervesa. And the senoritas!
HA! No wonder the guys I worked with three jobs back got pissed when I wished them a happy Cinco de Mayo (part of the French Military Industrial Complex)
I know, I don't use it though A) it is dumb B) alot of people take it wrong (at least in my experience) NOPE, I dislike racism but I am fine with all races, though I do have a few lil' tidbits of discrimination in me... but fuck, I'm only human... er... duck
And I still say race is taken way too seriously. Besides, whiteys screws us all at one point or another.
