    Honestly though, freedom of press has been dying for a long time - while everyone has been busy bitching about guns as if the 2nd amendment is the only part of the constitution that matters, corporate conglomerates have been buying up all the media in the country and are fully controlling what stories are presented to the public. There isn't really a reason to pass more extreme measures against journalists when any real investigative journalism doesn't stand a chance of being published anyways.

    I think diplomatic coverage of things is important though. You can't go jutting cameras into everyone's face and expect to get the results you want. People get offended, especially if they have not been exposed to cameras before.

    It's strange if true because the US is outraged when journalist are treated unfairly in a war-zone. If ISIS kidnaps and beheads a journalist, the US media gives lot's of coverage.
