Thank you awesome people very much! I was hoping to get some honest reactions about these pieces, and I value your opinions very much so. I have some more characters that I am introducing to the set, so you'll have to stay with me here to give me your thoughts on them. I was really looking at creating some strong points that most can relate to, and the public is always right........... sometimes lol Arlia I appreciate the support, I love your work, you put a lot of passion into your style, seems like thats a fading aspect of most artists these days. I wish you the best of luck as well with your endeavour. Come_do your work is gaining major abilities and I am glad you see the emotion in my work as I do yours!
pen is so difficult good for you to branch out on it.. i like the bottom one a lot with the angles arms out. very nice. plus i like bootys
Off-topic: Your avatar gieves me a stroong urge to cover my equipment... On-topic: Cool! They're very well drawn and has emotions. As if she wants to scream, but doesn't dare.
Anavarius hi ana, i was just wondering why you called your main character "ugly girl"? i love the artwork it's incredible. good luck hippiewise
Thank you guys for your input. It's called ugly girl because that's the series title. These pictures are going to go with short stories, and many other characters are going to be introduced. Which may fit the literal term of Ugly. Mainly I chose that title because MANY and I do stress that word, out there do find them selves Ugly or deal with self esteem issues everyday. Those who are abused and scarred emotionally, and physically. Some who have experienced major loss of confidence, and respect from themselves and others. So many different but common scenarios that some might not agree with, but are unfortunate realities. I think ugly has many different definitions, and more so by woman who use that term and apply it to the self conflicting issues they face everyday. I guess vanity can arise more so than any other in the sense. But I didn't really mean it like that. I guess it will make more sense when I produce the latter of the set. Good question Hippiewise, I hope I answered it.
yes i totally agree with you about women's self image. i was a rape crisis counselor and also worked with women with eating disorders and heard so many women talk of low-self image. i thought that was what you meant, just courious. great pictures and great idea hippiewise
Whoa thats an amazing thing to do hippiewise. Victims of sexual abuse have many problems to overcome. A very close person to me is facing those problems as I speak. Its hard seeing somebody you care about with trust issues that she never had before. You are a wonderful person to help those less fortunate.
Thanks for the comments. Troy , More color would be good if I had some pen color selection lol. But what can you do, ballpoint is pretty scarce with variation. (Though I do have more pen colors ..........right now..... a little too late........... damn......... lol.)
thanks anavarius, (cool name) for the kudos. i am retired now but was a social worker for 15 years. worked with rape/domestic violence cases. very rewarding and very hard and sad too. hippiewise angel
The "ugly girl" is really good. When I was in scool the girl next to me looked like your "ugly girl". She was very often sad, because she thought that she is ugly, but I liked her very much. And she wasn't ugly at all. She had a nice smile, but she didn't believe it. It's really a portrait of her.. how did you know ??
i like them, but u wont be able to sell them. the people who buy art are usually middle aged white people, and i doubt they'll go for that. i like them, but u have to think of ur audience. and thats a tough sell there.
hippiewise, Thats a very tough proffession to follow through with. You should be proud. There are so many people out there who fall through the cracks with such a bad family life, or plain life in general. Help seems like such a distant call at times. Ghost of ruins, I am glad that you enjoyed my pictures. You have a good heart to think otherwise of the girls insecurity. Simple gestures like that can help heal many wounds of that nature. I am glad my drawing resembles somebody of this experience. jojoeyes, good to know you like them. I am not too worried about somebody buying the art themselves. I am making a book of short stories that the art is going with, and has a very strong chance of getting published. More directed at girls of all ages that can relate to the many themes to be introduced. Thank you for the advice none the less its always appreciated. But these are only preliminary proofs and not final products.
