The girls are being forced to be the adult in the situation....which is normally the case anyway : - ).

The reason for making the girls be the adult is because they are the ones who ultimately have to carry the burden of an unplanned pregnancy.

If a boy gets a girl pregnant....he can just walk away from the situation. If a girl gets pregnant then she has to make a very important decision that will have a big impact on her body regardless of what she decides. She is also the one who will have to care for the child if she rightly decides to have the child.

If she decides to have an abortion...then there is the strong possibility of immediate and long term emotional scars. A young woman could have an abortion at 15 and not have any near term emotional conflict from the decision....but later on in life when she has children.....the emotional scars can surface as she begins to bond with her children and come to a fuller realization of the decision that she made in her youth.

 

I also need to add that men are pigs.

I truly believe that men in general are much less impacted (both physically and mentally) by a pregnancy....especially when there is an abortion.

My wife connected with the child in her womb early on. I did not have any connection whatsoever until the child was actually born. It is hard for me to explain in words....but a woman definitely has a stonger emotional attachment to her unborn child than a man IMO.

 

I have to agree with that. Some women are attached from the start. I have heard of them not feeling anything at all when the child was first born however. My friend was like that when she had her son. A few days and she grew really attached to him. Guess it depends on the person though. I do think a few men can be just as attached though.

 

Your friends response is a fairly common one I think. They have a name for it...but I forget what it is.

After seeing first hand the physical stress a womans body goes through during pregnancy.....I can't say as I blame your friend :- )

But there is nothing stronger IMO than a bond between a Mother and a child.

 

abortions aren't allowed here in ireland. they exercise what is called "Blind Faith" stupid arrogant shits of priests. (i'm not saying all preists are bad, just most the irish ones)

It is my opinion that it is much harder to find a good priest than a bad one.

Unfortunately many priests are in it for the position, power and/or money.

 

Hopper: the stuff you say makes perfect sense.. in the end it ìs the girl that has to carry the responsibility. However, I hope that in Ireland they make an effort to sexually educated kids as well, instead of just making things illegal for 17 y/o girls. Often those things don't go together.. like in the US, where they preach against teenpregnancy and aids by telling them to abstain from sex before marriage.. yeah right.. I think most kids would be better of having a bunch of condoms and some ethics than those 'wise words'

in ireland well at least in my school, in first year (the first year of secondary) we had, every monday, an 80 minute class all about sex education. in second and third year we had one sex day a year which was a whole day devoted to sex ed and then in fourth year we had sex ed every thursday for 80 minutes but for the fourth year ones it was mainly telling our teacher what we liked doing and her saying "have you ever tried this...?" i think it's pretty good for sex ed over here.

The reason I posted that long clinical description is because there are a lot of people who seem to think that pedophilia is when you think a 17 year old is hot. Why anyone would come up with such a crazy notion is something I can't fathom, but I think that ignorance and maybe a little stupidity come into the picture somewhere. The truth is that a 17 year old female is a woman, a young woman, but a woman nonetheless. She is not a child and she is not a little girl. Those who would say she is are intentionally misusing her legal status as a minor to label her an infant. That doesn't mean it's ok for a middle aged man to be lurking around high schools looking for a date, it just means he's not a sicko for wishing he could.

I'm 31 years old and I'm just as attracted to high-school aged girls as I ever was when I was that age myself. I prefer women in their mid to late 20's, but that has more to do with mental and emotional maturity than anything physical. Physically speaking a 16 year old and a 26 year old are all but indistinguishable, so I'll be damned if I'm going to feel bad for wanting to do the same things to the jail-bait 16 year old that I do to the legal 26 year old.

What really gets me mad is the relatively recent trend among some to label any sexual activity on the part of someone under 18 as somehow being deviant or abnormal, or otherwise requiring the intervention of mental health professionals. I'm sorry, but puberty happens long before the age of 18, and that means sex and sexual desire happen long before 18 as well. If you look back at the history of western civilization you'll find that most people got married when they were still teenagers. My grandmother got married at the age of 16, and that wasn't uncommon for her generation. Yet these brain-dead psycho-babble pushers would have us believe that people today are somehow different, and different in such a way that it's a sick deviancy for a 16 year old girl to have sex with her boyfriend. Teenagers that do that need counselling (aka brainwashing) because for them to have sex means that they're "abusing each other" because they're really flegling pedophiles. Am I the only one who thinks this is the most idiotic, not to mention insulting and degrading, nonsense?

Then there is the fact that the courts are being used to prosecute consensual sex between teenagers. Laws that were originally written to address the sexual exploitation of young women by older men are being re-interpreted in order to punish teenagers for having consensual sex. I don't know why this is happening or who is behind it, but I think it's a horrible miscarriage of justice. The fact that a 15 year old guy is having sex with his 15 year old girlfriend is an issue for their parents to handle, if necessary, not for the courts because no crime is being committed.

There are people out there who are real pedophiles of course. I think that if someone is abusing kids they should just take them out someplace and shoot them.

Although.. how do you feel about kids who's puberty starts early (like 9 or 10) and are therefor physically mature early? Don't you think there's a mental 'puberty' as well? .. I think though, that that's for parents (together with their kids) to decide and not for court. I mean.. if you grew up in a very strict and protecting environment than you might not be ready even at 19 years old.. whereas you could be ready for sex at 13 if your relationship with your parents is more open and your environment is safe and without judging.. sth like that..

 

Ok so here's the update. This morning, the girls parents and the investigator picked her up from school. She confessed everything from her drinking, to smoking weed and everything involving me. So far, her parents aren't pressing any charges, so her best friends says. So Far! My hearts pounding!!! But I can't complain because I brought this all on myself. From now on, 17 and up for me. That's the SC law.

 

Oh yea...I think I forgot to mention that her dad is very racist, and he's also a police officer. I wonder if he knows I'm black. So many questions and nobody to answer them.
