The only movie that made me cry was 'The English Patient.' Have you seen it?

Nope. To be honest, I've seen relatively few movies(especially Hollywood) in the last 5 years or so.

it's very good. it wasn't a huge hollywood style movie. it was mostly under the radar for most people. too much integrity for the vacuous mobs, i suppose. i know i was hesitant to watch it. but every time i watch it, i love it more. yeah, it's a bit trite, but collin farrel's acting in it is SO GOOD.

though i suppose it should be said, i pretty much consider everything i've ever read or watched to be pretty formulaic and repetitious. dave hates watching movies with me because i can tell him how it's going to end after the first half hour. i gave up on watching all the artsy movies and reading the artsy books because they're all just the same stories over and over again. some are prettier to look at and such, but after a while you just get kinda jaded and don't care anymore. at least i did. now i look outside of music, film, literature and such for true inspiration and interest. places like this forum, public places, etc. are way more interesting to me than anything else. i guess i just look to my films and literature for interesting people. i give up on there being an original story.

This forum is COULD actually be quite inspiring. I think it adds a layer of experience to my life.

I felt the same way you feel about jazz. I've listened to it so much, Coltrane became predictable. And Eric Dolphy, and everything else.

Actually, I don't think repetition is a problem anymore. I think lack of humor and excessive wit is. Excessive wit is pretty close to cynicism.

But people are most delectable in person. When our insecurities make EVERYTHING most unpredictable. And fascinating so long as we don't take it personally/defensively.

    PEOPLE are amazing.

I take that back. People are also predictable in superficial interaction. :( They surprise you in intimate interaction. :)
