i knew someone who had their own flock of them. they got into everything and shat all over everything. like giant pretty colored rats.
kind of reminds me of when people build their lives around 'bling', and epic-ness, and excitement.
i do like pretty shapes and colors. but i like them better when i'm creating them.
now i don't mean to rag on peacocks. there's nothing wrong with looking pretty. and they didn't choose their appearance anyway.
and i do like feathers (and fur, and scales) when they're still part of the living creature that grew them.
but they are, one of the more spectacularly over rated creatures on our planet,
    possibly exceeded only by ourselves.

if i recall correctly, they're not quite as vicious as geese,
but they're not exactly cuddly either.

they're loud too. one of my neighbors about a half mile away when i was growing up had a couple of them. you would hear these awful noises coming from that direction. i don't remember exactly what it sounded like, but i seem to remember thinking it sounded like someone was being murdered in the woods.

LOL! I was going to post this exact thing about them being loud.

When I was growing up, there were 2 old lady relatives that lived about 2 miles away and they had 3 peacocks. In the evening, you could hear them SCREAMING all the way over these 2 country miles. :D I've always liked loud things, with the exception of very loud people that have no volume control whatsoever...so I really liked those peacocks!

Right now I'm whistling LOUD (I learned from youtube) after being reminded of LOUD peacocks. [IMG] :drummer:

oddly enough i had forgotten that part, possibly because i think its been most of 40 years since i remember having seen one more then once in an odd moon.
their neighbors most have really loved them. well they were out in the country where everybody had twenty acres or more.
and forest mostly which may have helped.
