So then in response to my question of if you think states should be allowed to bring back slavery, repeal women's rights and make child molestation legal, your answer should have been a simple yes.

According to this then, the whole civil war was just a fraud, as if those who didn't like slavery didnt want it, they should have just moved to the north and let the south continue to be a racist place where people could be bought and sold based on the color of their skin.

I am curious about something though... if you don't like the way the federal governemnt is running things, why don't you do what you suggested other people do? Shut up and get out of the country.

    edited to add...

As for the unless what... unless anything... either they have the right to make the laws or they don't. If you are picking and choosing which states can enact which laws according to your beleifs, you are doing the same thing you are ranting about the federal government doing.

    1. Do you have a reading problem? You appear to be having a one sided conversation, ignoring everything I say, obviously thinking, however erroneously.
    2. Can you stick to the topic? States passing laws related to Slavery, Women's right, child molestation, or the Civil war, and such have little to do with freedom of speech.
    3. You show living in Northern Ontario, so why have you any interest in U.S. politics?
    4. I don't live in the U.S. any longer, too much government and too little freedom.
    5. Did I not make myself clear, states DO have a right to enact laws, read the Constitution. Nowhere have I claimed they should create laws according to MY beliefs, but should do so based on a Democratic process in accordance with the desires of the citizens of each individual state. Democracy, when applied at the Federal level quickly becomes misused, leading to tyranny and corruption. Is it that difficult to recognize?

Go back and re-read everything.... what you say in one post, does not disappear with the next. They all combine to what you have said as a total.

No inference of anything, Your words, given back to you. If you don't like them.... YOUR PROBLEM.

The daily kos is misquoting Ron Paul he did not say what they say he is saying. They are very biased.
As far as gay marriage goes he says let the states decide but he also says a marriage should not be a government affair at all he wonders why anyone would want the government involved in something so personal. Here is a quote from one of your links above:
Also, on abortion he feels should be left up to the states and should not be an issue that federal politicians base their whole campaign on. Let the individual states decide. He is a OB/gyn doctor and he is pro life but he knows that no law will actually stop abortion, He is tired of politicians running their whole campaign on abortion and gay marriage.

He is against wars of all kind and thinks it would be a good idea to mind our own business as far as other countries go. He believes in a stong national defense and a strong milatary guarding our country.

walk away. citizen non cooperation. per the somewhat misguided mahatma. his theosophy was simply wrong. but he liberated india from brit tyranny. allowing the locals to tyrannize since. but if there is ongoing non cooperation, no gov can stand. and just ask yourself if heaven includes local govt. if we want more heavenly lives govt must end. and i have this as my personal wish and would never impose self responsible anarchism on any fearful soul who needed govt to feel secure. dont forget the word secure was put in place during homeland insecurity to evidence homeland control. control being the reality. security being the front word.

Yeah, a few people can walk away, but what will that do? The majority will not walk away. And Capitalism will put up a fight; they don't want to be overthrown...

Don't we have a constitutional obligation to overthrow the government?

It's like all the past civilizations, look at the greeks and roman empires. Things go good for a while then government crashes and things go crazy

Just wait a little longer, and it will collapse on its own.

Anyone else notice that the poll's total percentage comes out to be about 126%. hmmmmm .................. the total amount of voter is off too.

But I agree that we could, we just need to have a plan and develope functional human social and earth friendly system. Ratheer than taking obselete and flawed systems and concepts like any government and start from what the true needs and goals that encompass all of humanity. We have to get past the concepts of people as the problem and see that it is the values and the system constructed from those values that are the real problems.

Anyone interested? Wanted some original thoughtful and problem solving minds like yours.

Just an example of how easily voter fraud can take place, 94 voters cast a total of 118 votes.

It might be a good idea to bring down the government peacefully, and considering the division between people today it would be interesting to see how many new governments might be created. Of course if you were to eliminate 'peacefully' from the question, and insert forcefully and violently, it might be possible to replace the current form of government with a fully Socialist Democratic Republic form of government. Or we could just wait a little longer and accomplish the same results.

I don't know whether violent struggle is needed or not. I know that I could not personally raise weapons against my fellow man unless there was extreme circumstances of violent military checkpoints, family and friends dying by the hands of army thugs, and/or obvious concentration camps being built and used.

I saw a documentary about a man, Gene Sharp who wrote a book about peaceful revolution that has actually been applied in several different countries, including Egypt and Tunisia. you can read it for free

I agree with what was said (two years ago) that we will always relive history and sway back and forth between democracy and dictatorship. But maybe the reason for that is our incessant complacency, not only in the political arena but in our very lives.

This could be just some burnout hippies utopian daydream but is it really impossible for everyone to actively participate in life and the world?
Perhaps our next step in evolution will be a global realization that you can't just stand up for your rights every 100, 50 or even 20 years but a constant upright human stance for what is right and true. Holding each other to the golden rule standard, and not in a U.N. style follow the rules on the board way but a genuine love for humanity and its virtues kinda way. ya dig?

We don't have to lose our individualism if we accept the hive mind. We just lose our secrets and lies.

I would also ask if anyone thinks that a violent struggle is even possible in this country? America spends more money on defense and weapons than the entire world combined. I don't think my uncle's shotgun collection and knowledge of the backwoods is any match for heat sensing night vision goggles and helicopter ninja snipers.
I would almost say that it would be impossible to only ov'r thr'w the gov't with violence. You need to attack the pillars of social support in every way possible. Even Castro needed the laborers, activists, and figures to assist him and Che's guerilla tactics.

Somehow I just can't see 'democracy' as an acceptable antonym of 'dictatorship'.
It would seem more appropriate to think of the pendulum swinging between 'ruled' and 'self governed'. Democracy exercised at the individual level results only in 'rule by the majority', and without strict rules that government must adhere to, such as a Constitution, the people are allowed only a say in 'who' will rule them, which results in those who are elected assuming whatever powers necessary to impose their agenda upon the governed, like it or not.

SCOTUS already gave the rich a hostel takeover of the government when it declared that money was free speech. In the month of May millionaires gave Romney $76 million for his campaign. Obama raked in $60 million. That's $136 million in one month. There's still five months to go. Millionaires own every congressman and senator and POTUS and SCOTUS judge. Corporate business is in on it too, including the businesses of China and every other country. Anyone with more than two brain cells knows that America is dead.

its not sufficient to overthrow a government. that's not a magic wand. you could end up with a lot of dead people and still be right back where you started. it takes major cultural changes, and then, if those occur, whatever government there is, has to either get out of the way of them, or get run over.
