Women have always been at the core of the peace movement. I hear those war drums banging again. As sisters we will oppose war and we will not let one of our children kill or get killed. There are better ways to solve conflict.
I prefer to look up to the Kurdish women soldiers giving hell to ISIS right now. And I feel useless too, like I'm stuck in Europe and I'm actually decent with a rifle. not that I would want to go to the Middle East at all, but I feel for those women. Give 'em all Hell, Ladies!
Two things would stop the terrorism and move the world towards peace. (At least until the Water Wars get under way) 1. If we'd make a national move off of fossil fuels and lead the world in solar/wind/sustainable.... we could get the hell out of the Middle East. It's always been about oil. OPEC is almost dissolved at this point. The price of oil went below 35 dollars this last week. Dollar hegemony has been on the wane since Hussein moved Iraq oil out of the dollar. Climate change is FINALLY being acknowledged by most of the world. The time is ripe to make this move. Will the US do it?? Hell, no. People like the Koch brothers would never allow it. 2. If we'd finance Muslim women all over the world in their efforts to break the chains of subjugation, it would break the backs of radical organizations. Islam needs to grow up. All the major religions of the world have had their time as adolescents. Christians had a running amuck time of it during its preen years. The Inquisition! What fun! It isn't until women have finally had enough of the bullshit and they demand change that anything significant happens in terms of bringing a religion into the modern era. The problem with radical Islamic tradition is that any woman saying 'Oh hell NO' will likely be stoned to death or beheaded. Rather than financing armies that end up pointing their guns at us... finance the brave women. Help them. But, once again.. the US won't make this a major effort because there is too much big money invested in never-ending Oil Wars.
You are so right about that, on all points. When women say no to war, war will end. If we we will finance peace-loving Muslim women, war will end. But you are right, the US has too much to gain in oil money. They would rather risk WWIII than give up their greed.
