Yeah, he ran in 88. Check out the old 1988 SNL sketch about Pat Robertson vs. Bob Dole. Al Franken was impersonating Robertson and Norm McDonald did Bob Dole.

Dole said, "Mr. Pat Robertson, we all know you're a Bible-thumping religious con-artist from way back. Let me tell you something, Mr. Pat Robertson: Cure my right arm and I'll step aside and let you become President."

But the real insidious thing about that comment is that a lot of Robinson's sheep don't know that Communists and Muslim extremists would slit each other's throats. So he is seen as a beacon of reason in a tumultuous sea.

i love how he says bush was right in going to war, but he comes out and says this. we don't have to start another 200 billion dollar war to take one man out. shows you how much he really supports bush's policy on war startin'.

 

The US have failed to kill Castro, depite hundreds of assasination attempts. You can not even be sure the US will manage to kill Chavez, even if they try to invade Venezuela. The US is far from invincible.

 

U.S. troops were in Venezuela a year or two ago trying to run the oil equipment during the workers strike. Somehow it didn't work out right.

I used to watch the 700 club every now and again just in case he did something stupid. I thought it was funny until i realized that there are real people out there who actually believe in him.

 

What's funny is that Robertson is a true believer in the sort of conspiracy theories pushed by Pressed Rat.
