I must say I don't like the subject matter but I'm the person that advised this guy that his stuff was to morbid back when he was a teenager. Shows what I know. ?
I read a book about the Knights Templar some time ago. When the order was dissolved,they were accused among other things of worshipping Baphomet. The author says that some scholars think 'Baphomet' may be a corruption of 'Mohamed'. An interesting speculation. If true then very likely the source for Baphomet would actually be the church, who it seems were eager to drum up as much 'evidence' against the Templars as possible. The procedure was to put individual Templars to torture, and then get them to confess to a set of prepared accusations that were put to them. That way, the church got a more clear cut case, as different individuals in different locations could be forced to confess to the same things.
