Around the middle of November last year I was in a car accident. Among other things the impact caused my left lung to partially collapse. It reinflated by itself without any sort of surgery. The doctors did not warn me about smoking. The specialist, about a month ago, said it had healed fine.

I realize it is unlikely for anyone here to have any extensive medical experience however, are there any ideas on possible complications if I smoked? Its been about 2 months. My lungs feel fine, better than when I had been smoking before the accident, as far as capacity goes). I smoked once before Christmas (12/25/04) with a vaporizer and a pipe. No complications after that.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

You should be all set...but WTF do I know I'm not a doctor.

But in all seriousness I think you should try to use a vaporisor when you can, they're just better anyways.

My Friend had a fully collapsed lung last year and bragged that it happened because he was such a big stoner, which was not even part of the reason that it collapsed. His doctors said it just happenes to people, more often if they are really thin which he was. He still smokes daily and hes alright so dont worry about it.

The same thing happened to my fiancé last January, he was in the hospital for 3 weeks. He eventually had to end up having surgery to staple his lung shut. He still smokes, my not directly. He won't hit a pipe, blunt, or joint- so we worked out a system where I take a hit and then shotgun him the snoke. If we're using a bong he'll hit that, though. I don't know if our system would work if you don't have a girlfriend, but it's an idea.

Of course, the best thing to do would to be to not smoke smoke at all, hehe. Your choice, babe ;)

Before you take the advice of the relatively uninformed, go ask your doctor. Whatever you say to him is confidential (by law) so he can't turn you in, and can give you honest advice...hopefully. If he says no, try to tell if he's just being anti-weed (as opposed to giving real medical advice), because they, like the rest of america, have been fed lies and may think "drugs are bad" in all cases. Hopefully he'll be straight up with you though.

If you don't want to ask about weed, either for fear of being turned in or fear of bad, propoganized advice, ask first about cigarettes, say you are a light smoker (smoke maybe a pack a week or something, whatever would be equivalant to your pot-smokage), and go from there.

by the way, is "propogandized" a word?
