if you had fun painting it and you like the painting, then it is worthwhile. honestly though, its not my cup of tea, though i will freely admit i probably can't do any better. however if you are asking for actual constructive criticism, here are a few reasons why it doesnt really speak to me: -the colors look like they're fighting with each other....it clashes like cymbals -what "should have" been the subject matter of the painting seems to function more as a frame for the least interesting and least important part of the painting (the swirl with writing in it....i kinda get the name and date...but why write "wendys" in there?) -it neither appears to be an artistic representation of something nor a form of self-expression. if it is in fact self expression, you're only expressing yourself to yourself, as no message is apparent. i do kinda like the guy to the right, and i don't think the painting is complete crap or anything, i just don't care for it myself. like i said, if you had fun and just want to show us, it's all good. but posting it along with asking what we thought of it would indicate to me that you want feedback of some sort. i think you show signs of talent, but i dont think THIS painting is very good. i do not mean to come across as meanspirited or discouraging, so i hope you take this as nothing more than a little constructive criticism.
I think its awesome. Personally I like "trippy" artwork. I think it takes alot of talent to be able to fill a canvas with a painting.
^ I totally agree. I can't do anything on a large scale.. I'm always drawing really tiny things on a part of the paper. My art teachers used to complain about how a lot of his kids did this..
no it doesnt, look at piet mondrian's work: a very famous artist, and for what? he demonstrated that he could paint blocks of primary colors and straight black lines. give me dali, waterhouse, or renoir any day. all good artists! very different styles of course, but all had tremendous talent.... but it doesnt take talent to fill up space. ive done it many times over and...well, in general it hasn't worked out well for me
Oh, it's all good, man. I appreciate constructive criticism. It actually looks better in person than on the internet, but o well. I had a grand ol' time painting it. I was perfectly stoned, everything was perfect, I was with a good friend of mine and I was completely in my own little bubble. Nothing could have shit on my parade. There is no message. I was painting. It's not supposed to mean anything. Maybe subconsciously there's a reason why I painted the way I did, but I didn't start painting with an agenda. I just wanted to do something different, something abstract - and I did. I'm proud of it. I personally like the character on the left. I love its face and body.
i believe i will, there's this fucking amazing piece it was supposed to be "organic" and i stare at it when i am high and i'm like oh my fuck, you are amazing look at that! expect something soon up
I like the personality of the guy on the right. that's groovy. and man, I passed thru mobile alabama this summer and couldn't imagine a beautiful gal like yourself would be painting some psychedelic minion 'round those parts. keep it up. ;]
i am, well used to be very good at drawing, would do it anytime i had the chance and everyone said i was really talented. i kind of stopped a few years back, thinking about getting back into. but nice paintings =)
