ahem... pentacles are found in Orthodox churches, too. Pagans don't have a belief in an innately "evil" entity (satan, bastardized Hebrew/ Armaic? for adversary) since all is in one (polytheism is really the concept of directing thought to one aspect of god, something a faith based on a trinity godhead should think about before throwing stones) diety is the force that causes all. That said MANY pagans are so defensive that they will attack Xtians and Xtianity at the drop of a hat. Lots of bad water under the bridge between the two. I think Church of All Worlds tried to heal that rift, with little sucess.
well the bible is full of crap... I'm just sorry that you can't see that... You're young yet, maybe you'll grow out of this crap as you get older.
OK maybe we can't be nice. OK, anyone can claim to be a christian and do whatever they wish in the name of Christ. Ask anyone who survived Waco, TX or the Jim Jones organization. Better yet ask the family members of those who did not survive. More wars have been touched off and more lives have been taken in the name of religion (mostly Christianity trying to dominate others) than any other reason. It isn't? Did not Muslims attack the US because we, as infidels, are a blasphemy upon the world of Islam and because we support non-Islamic interests in the middle east? Does George W. Bush not press the Christian support button in every public statement he's ever given? I never hear him say ANYTHING about Jews, Buddhists, Pagans, Wiccans, etc. BECAUSE HE WANTS CHRISTIANITY TO REPLACE EVERY OTHER FAITH ON EARTH AND HE BELIEVES GOD TOLD HIM TO DO THIS!!! EVEN THOUGH THIS IS PROHIBITED BY THE US CONSTITUTION, HE HAS ADOPTED A STATE SPONSORED RELIGION. If you'd listen to him you'd know this. The problem is that you and your beliefs are part of the problem.
The thing we have to remember is that modern Religion is different than ancient god-worshipping. Centuries, millenia ago, there WAS NO difference between church and state. When governments gave tribute to gods, it wasn't like our modern understanding of worship... It was their version of "Science." Magic and god ritual was very much like modern science research, medicine, etc, with humans trying to impose their will over natural occurance... That's why it is looked down upon in the Bible, not because it's demonic, but because it was ancient Science... So if people understood the cultural context of the Bible better, they would look at modern science as evil, because it is "playing god," subverting his will for yours... So when ancient Rome called for tribute to the Emporer, it was because they actually thought it'd be like medicine to ensure his health... And being the political freedom fighter he was, Jesus encouraged his skeptical Jewish followers to unite with their "unclean" (gentile means pagan) neighbors in order to overthrow the Roman military rule...
Now Im not a participant in this heatful debate about faiths and Im glad im not because Im among those who like interchange of views rather than hearing "pagans are stupid" or the "bible is full of crap". Get your self together people! And oh.. Claudia I couldnt understand you.. Try explaining in baby language why the trinity is not an innovation which Jesus(peace be upon him) obviously didnt teach, as I said. The word doesnt even exist in the gospels.
so glad to know that your faith thinks of me as a child without understanding. (grrr) I have been in one prostelytizing (not xtian) group, and I can tell you it does something bad to a person. Where the group may have been a good support system to get the kid off the streets, off drugs, whatever, the fervent Zealotic "spreading the word" makes a seige mentality...or a salesman mentality. Neither is good for the soul. As a Jew by birth returned to the fold after a LOT of study and wandering including working with neopagans, the whole "I have the right way and you're gonna burn in hell" line is old. Way old. Until we are dead its all philosophy. Of course we as humans think our philosophy is right. That 's why we follow it. But the arrogance shown in Xtianity and Islam and ISKCON in the concept of conversion proves that man remakes god in his own image. Jesus introduced the concept of eternal death. It isn't in Jewish thought per se (see http://www.askmoses.com/qa_detail.html?o=18913 ). Gehrnom is a poit at wich one clenses. Life is energy, and if you stayed awake in physics you were taught that energy never can be destroyed. Life does not end. Oddly enough, he is used as the Get out of Jail Free card. Look at what he said and did, that made him holy and important to humans. Not simply butts in the seats.
