Ok, i don't know if this is normal, but it isn't for me--i've been having contractions all day! I've been having a few BH a day for the last few months (never had more than a couple ever with my previous pregnancies), but nothing like this. (TMI alert) i don't know if it has anything to do with it or not, but hubby and i had sex this morning, and for three hours afterwards i had contractions every 3 minutes! Since then, it's been more like every 15-20 minutes. They're not *too* painful, i mean they don't feel like labor (for me, those feel like they happen right in the cervix, and these are more up in my belly) but it does hurt, and i'm super-moody and not feeling at all like myself today. *sigh* anyone else get something like this? Maybe i shouldn't be getting it on anymore? LMFAO. I'm not real worried or anything, my other kids were born several days after their due dates, and i'm not quite at 33 weeks yet, but man am i miserable!
Have you called your doctor? When that happened to me before I was due they told me to go on bedrest. That isn't any fun. I hope it stops.
Alright, it must be nothing, because i'm still having them, but not as often, and it's not a distraction at all anymore. *whew* i have to admit i was starting to get a little nervous a couple of hours ago, lol, but it's all good. I did drink more water than i have been, and that probably helped.
Good sex can cause BH contractions. You may need to find other means of intimacy for the next few weeks. Back in my day they told us that we couldn't have sex at all for the last 6 weeks and for 6 weeks after. As long as the contractions are going away now I wouldn't worry about it. Next time see if they ease up when you lay down. Real labor won't change when you lay down. That's one way to tell the difference. Remember, your body has done this twice before so it will feel things earlier and more often than it did before. I didn't realize that you were that far along already. Happy Baby soon. Kathi
That is a LOT of BH contractions. MICHELLE PLEASE CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! I was in preterm labor with all my kids, and with the first one, I thought they were BH and I almost lost her (if I hadn't finally talked to a freind who had a baby and she told me it wasn't normal, Sunshine would have been born at 27 weeks and probably not made it.) Every 3 minutes is NOT Braxton Hicks. Even 4 an hour are too many at 33 weeks. Please, Michelle, call, and if he doesn't respond GO TO THE ER!!! This saved my babies lives.
I JUST had this happen to me last week! My hubby and I were intimate and I had a really good orgasm for the first time in a few weeks. I started having very intense contractions right away. Every few minutes, and they lasted all day. I finally called the midwife and she made me lie down on my left side and rest. I was going to have to go to the hospital and deliver my baby if he was coming (since I was only just at 35 weeks) and this upset me so much the contractions stopped! They did return later but much much lighter and further apart and eventually tapered off. So we have to be very gentle having sex until 37 weeks when it's ok for him to be born.
Well, the whole thing is just very confusing. i did try laying on my left side, and it didn't help; they just had to work themselves out i guess. But i haven't had any more contractions at all since Saturday, so i guess it was a freak thing. *hugs for KC* at least you only have 12 weeks or so left to wait You're 2/3 done! (Thinking of it that way sounds a whole lot better than "three more months" hehe)
