NASA has always edited out the background to make sure there is nothing to question. there can't be any chance of a UFO or anything else strange they can't explain
Figure 13: Sequences in the production of a Hubble Space Telescope image of Messier 17. First the individual exposure (taken through three different filters): 1. 673n (Sulphur) shown in red in the final image), 2. 656n (hydrogen, green), 3. 502n (oxygen, blue), 4. First colour composite attempt, 5. Improving, 6. Improving, 7. Improving, 8. Adjusting the composition and then 9. Final colour and contrast adjustments for the final image.
If you take a pic from a starry night sky with your phone cam you will generally see the same: stars do not show. Also, unless you have a great camera moon shots suck too compared to the actual view. edit: corrected sentence
It must be all dirt and ice. I'm just guessing based on the fact that it's so distant from our sun! That's one cold dirty ice ball!
Every single colour photo you see from Hubble is not very realistic at all though. Which is why I posted those shots a couple posts above Hydrogen doesn't glow green, sulphur doesn't glow red. The lighting is adjusted A real photo wouldn't look anything like they do But it's a long long time before we'd get craft that will get close enough to just give you the point and shoot version in the visible range to compare the difference
I have the have a bit a lol when I read the telescopes can't take photos of stars. Builds a telescope to look at the stars... Can't even look at the stars, I mean seriously I think that's absolute rubbish. If you got a piece of equipment out there looking at other galaxies then it can take a photo of Planet and a star at the same time, sorry.
Probably just fade out the stars so you can't see the string attached to the planets just dangling there.
As been said: it can, with the right equipment and exposure time. It's harder with a phone cam even when you see a shitload of stars with your bare eye.
Humans: "we want to exceed our human potential, climb new heights conquer new challenges by reaching the stars.. but we won't be able to take any photos of them okay?"
