Went outside barefoot today and i didn't realize that the cement walkway was so hot. I also stepped on a stick and almost had it in my foot. I'm going to start wearing shoes more I just got a few pairs today including crocs as well as a few packs of socks as well. I came to the realization it's just no longer practical. It was a good month but I'm wearing shoes again

I feel your pain,it took a bit of time to toughen up for me. My feet are soft from winter but I can still walk on gravel with no problems.

Diane I'm sorry you had a bad experiece but don't give up. Think about the times you really enjoyed baring your soles. You can still have those experiences. Pick and choose your moments. We have all had to learn our limitations and how to be more careful where we are stepping. I waas at the beach once and stepped on some charcoal someone had buried in the sand. They did not extinguish it completely before covering it up. Boy did that hurt! Has it stopped me from being barefoot? No. I just realized I was paying for some moron's ignorance. Keep 'em bare - at least part time. :)

To me the barefooting is kind of a sport building up my ability to navigate different terrain barefoot and hot pavement no longer a problem as skin toughened up.

All these articles on benefits of barefooting but few point out it takes time to get your natural abilities back and the way it feels to be barefoot in the beginning feeling like feet are fragile is very temporary.

I wear flip flops if its raining and im going out. Flip flops I can deal with foot stuffed in shoe n sock, yuck.
