March against monarchy takes place in Dublin Rebecca Black 19 September 2022, 7:42 pm A coffin marked RIP British Empire has been thrown into Dublin’s main city centre river. The incident came during a protest march against the monarchy which took place in the Irish capital on the day that the funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II took place in London. Anti Imperialist Action Ireland said it was the recreation of an action by former socialist leader James Connolly in Dublin in 1897 during a visit to the city by Queen Victoria. Irish President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Micheal Martin were among world leaders who attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London. The march in Dublin on Monday afternoon was described as being “against the grovelling worship of the English Monarchy by the Free State ruling class”. Protesters also objected to the flying of the Irish flag at half mast on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
these have very different meanings in different nations. my perspectives as to the monarchy are considerably more neutral. to me they are kind of like slave actors, who have to live in really ugly big buildings. and i do feel kind of a bit sorry for them for this, whatever horrors their ancestors may have inflicted in the past. all ostentation is of course ridiculous. routine for some offers comfort, and i'd not deny it to those for whom it does. for myself, i believe the way forward is logic in the service of universal consideration, and if anything, it is the shortage of that that is at the root of our world's problems. expensive of a side show that the british monarchy might be, it is kind of way down toward the bottom of the list of the worst of our problems. the new monarch's history of environmental concern is to me a good sign, and in direct contrast to the newly current p.m. i look forward with fingers crossed as to how that will play out.
I think monarchists tend to disappear. In fact, they have already been losing power over the years, and even their own members desist from being part of them as Harry did. Personally, I find it unfair that there are people privileged by the mere fact of being born into a certain family. I am more in favor of earning privileges by own merit than for the mere fact that inherited them.
while i do not believe in privilege at all, earned or not, what so ever, period, i also do not conceive of a monarchical lineage being all the much in any sense of a privilege. the lack of opportunity for creative diversity, no matter how much it might be surrounded by ostentation, it would seem to me, as the ultimate of grinding drudgery. fairness is something that depends upon the universality of our consideration to create. the mineral universe is impartial do to its indifference to life and the existence of life. and while gods too, may exist, their doing so, depends in no way, on what we tell each other to image we know about them. what we do need to be cautious of, is to keep narcissism distant from power, lest we fall backwards into the dominance of aggressiveness, which by any other name is tyranny, regardless of ideology, belief or anything else. the british royalty of today is mostly and entertaining side show, in other parts of the world, certain other parts, where there are laws, i forget what they're called, against making light of their nation's hierarchies, this is not the case, and even though they conceal or deny the symbols, they are much more absolute, in reality.
