I have only seen two or three other barefooters in public, all teen girls and then carrying flip flops.

This morning around 8:00, I went to gas up my car at the local Costco store which is about a mile from my house. As I was getting ready to leave, I noticed a young guy who appeared to be in his mid- to late 20s parked next to the curb adjacent to the gas pumps. His vehicle was a Nissan XTerra and he was straightening out some items in the back, and he was barefoot. He must be a regular barefooter because I noticed his soles were pretty black. He was also dressed in a T-shirt and cargo shorts.

He's the second or third person I've seen barefoot at that Costco gas station. Too bad the inside of the main store isn't barefoot friendly.

Hi, just reading this thread, and of course New Zealand comes up alot. Im a barefoot mummy with two small boys. Thinking about others being barefoot, bet you cant beat this for a barefooting family experience = went to a christmas parade on the weekend , I was barefoot, as were my two children, my sister was barefoot and her three children were barefoot, and my mother came to and she was barefoot!!! Thats a total of eight people without a fucking shoe in sight! Must run in the family!

Must admit when the whole tribe gets together like that the feet really get shown off!

Saw a guy in his 40s walking out of Lowe's (a DIY/hardware type store) in a tie-dye t shirt, jeans, and bare feet. His soles were really black, so he must be a true barefooter.

Lowe's always makes my feet super black, even just walking around in there for like 5 minutes or so. I've been to the one nearest my house several times BF before, but then the one second closest wouldn't let me in (dude pushing shopping carts in caught me just as I was going in).

Saw a woman about early 40s at our indoor Family Day celebration barefoot. She was working for a dentist giving out swag to passersby. She went into highheels when she left the table. I forgot my phone to take a pick. They were tanned and a little bony for my licking...I mean liking.

I see a few girls walking by my place barefoot with their shoes/sandals in hand each summer.

I saw a couple of young girls (I'm guessing early teens) walking down my street last week and one of them was barefoot. The barefoot girl wasn't carrying any shoes or sandals and she was smiling as they walked by. :2thumbsup:

Saw a woman in her early 30s, barefoot, coming off down the escalators at Walthamstow Central underground station in London, heading towards the platform. Unfortunately I was getting up the escalators and I couldn't turn round as I had the missus with me. Though did tell her, there was a barefoot woman, which is extremely rare in these parts. I regret I couldn't see more of her or even her soles! This was around 6pm after a lovely sunny day in London.

I don't see anyone, really. A few that have tried it because of me. None of them kept it up.

That said, I have noticed increased interest in it.

I think vibrams and other toed shoes may be largely responsible. At first they're a comfortable novelty, and then they get people thinking that they might as well do the same thing, but without the shoes.

It has been unusually warm the last couple weeks in Indianapolis--highs often in the low 80's F. On Thursday past, I saw a 50'ish guy, very trim, get out of his pickup truck in the middle of Broad Ripple Village in shorts, t-shirt, and barefoot, and go into some business barefoot, right there by his truck.

Lots of people in flips, but he is the only one I have seen barefoot so far this year.

When riding the bus homeward after work, I saw two punk guys, barefoot, sitting on the pavement of the ped zone, one playing his guitar, both bumming people for change...

A clear and nice exception to the typical and cliché punk dress code of combat boots. But with more than 20°C (70F) in the shade, it's just too warm to wear those clunky things...

Yeah but at the same time it reinforces the "bum" mentality that people think when they see a BF person.

Since most people will think "bum" when seeing a counter-culture human being (barefoot or shod) anyway, I don't hink that the bare feet make much of a difference... it does lower barefoot reputation, but there are enough neatly-dressed barefooters, doing their share to make up for that.

On the other hand, I don't dress the way I do, for instance (which is quite counter-culture or even outright "weird" to mainstream eyes at times... to slightly understate this), to please other people's eyes. I do it for myself. Same goes for my bare feet. But to each his/her own...

Oh, BTW, zero other barefooters today...

    Wiggling bare toes,

Seeing any other barefooters works for me since its so rare. And besides I get that look all the time anyway, so who cares what these people think?

I was sitting at a stoplight a couple hours ago when a beautiful older woman (guessing in her 50s--mixed grey/blonde hair) stepped off the sidewalk and walked through the crosswalk barefoot. She was in a zip-front sweatshirt and denim shorts, with no shoes anywhere in sight. Her feet were very tan and nicely shaped, and it looked like she had nice thick pads on her soles, so I'm guessing she's a regular barefooter. I watched her walk through a food court area on the corner and she was about to walk across the shopping center parking lot when the light changed. Beautiful!
