    The Stouts Creek wildfire is 6000+ acres and growing. It is ZERO PERCENT CONTAINED.

    It started as a tiny 2 acre fire yesterday at about 1pm, which quickly grew into a massive disaster after it jumped the initial fire lines.

    Fire crews could not keep up with it, and now it is so severe that it has created it's own weather system, a pyrocumulonimbus cloud, complete with its own lightening. It can be seen via satellite imagery.

    People around the area are volunteering to go in and help fight this monster, with some even taking to Facebook to ask for "fire clothes," since they have not been able to find any left for sale.

    Governor Brown has called to power the Emergency Conflagration Act, in the hopes that help can be sent to fight it. To quote from the OPB article;
    "The Emergency Conflagration Act authorizes the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal to mobilize structural firefighters and equipment to assist the local crews fighting the blaze. It can only be invoked if a fire posses an immediate threat to life or structures and exceeds the firefighting capabilities of local personnel and equipment, according to ORS 476.510-476.610. The act was last invoked during 2011’s wildfire season."
    More information, and up to date information can be found at this website: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/article/4426/26162/
    This fire is in addition to several others statewide. The closest of which being the Cable Crossing fire, just outside of Glide, Oregon. The page for it is: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4424/ It is, as of this posting, 15% contained and has burned about 830 acres.

    The listing for all current Oregon wildfires can be found on this page: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/state/38/

    PLEASE, pray, send good energy, or whatever your beliefs indicate. We are in a drought to begin with and this 100+ degree heat is just making things worse.

    it's a tragic, but it is what a forest needs to do. We build our houses knowing this, can't get too mad when mother nature plays it's course

    Hope the families are supported in their transitionary times though
