Any fans out there? They've been around for 20 years or so but they're fairly new to me. they play a stoner/doom type of metal and they're very good at it. their new CD is called "A Eulogy for the Damned" and it kicks ass! think Sabbath meets Motorhead and you're lookin' in the right direction
Didn't realize they were around that long, they sound good. The album I listen to sounds like biker music,
Gonna see them live again in february! Their newer albums don't really excite me as much but I expect a mixed setlist and some superb hardrocking as usual :cheers2:
Time travelling blues and The big black. For the rest I dig some loose tracks like Rage of angels from Coup de grace, or the second part of Black egg from Thieving from the house of God. They always play Scorpiona and Quincy the pig boy live
I had a foray into metal once upon a time. I had Himsa, which I thought was supposed to be emo but I've decided it's more metal-y. Also had Atreyu who may be more emo than Himsa. And of course there was Silverstein, who were more like metal to me than they were like emo, but aren't really metal either. Here is one by Himsa if anyone wants to hear what it sounds like. It sounds like heavy metal to me.
Here is Atreyu. I guess they're emo, but they sound wayyy too metal to be in my earbuds. Just my opinion.
Emo regularly fits in the metal subgenre. It can very well be both, depending on the style characteristics. But you simply do not post it in an Orange Goblin thread
For most people who are into metal there's a distinctive difference between emo core/metal and a subgenre like stoner/doom. Most fans of either are not into the other
very informative. If there was one thing I could appreciate about either of the bands that I listened to posted here it was the guitars. And I like the singing (not so much the screaming though) of Atreyu.
I can’t stand vocals like in Atreyu in metal. Too whiny. Emo indeed. And if the only compelling in a metal bands sound are the guitars they lost me already. I need to dig the general sound and what they're trying to do. I admit I have very specific taste This also counts for Orange Goblins later albums. The singers vocals were just ok anyways, but on newer stuff it sounds far less good imo.
8 years late here......ove this band...got to them from Monster Magnet...OG would be called stoner today
