kay, i am watching it because i am bored and wanted to veg. out in front of the tv and with my limited channels, nothing else on.... well, it's so sad... those beautiful, big eyed african children and the aids epidemic there... well, OPRAH THOUGH, is just tooting her own horn. she's on there talking about how she cares (and im sure she does).... but her diamonds earrings r 3 or 4 karrots each and her estate......errr, it's all about oprah. trying to look good. yay! she went to africa for a day but there's more that she could do. shes so pompous and annoying....its all about her..... just.....errr, nm
and she said that they belive that haveing sex with a virgin will cure the aids...and that little girl that got raped all those times...its so sad...i wish i could help them...but i also wonder y they continue to have chirldren at all
Oprah's always doing stuff to make her seem humble and just like "one of us". Like how her and her camera crew go shopping at Target and K-Mart every now and then. Or going on television without makeup just to show how "real" she is. Yeap. Good ol' Oprah.
ive already seen this episoad about a month ago...and it is still amazing the second time around...and it was nice to hear that bill gates is trying to help the government over there
yeah, those scenes were so sad. i turned it off early because two reasons.... oprah and her hypocracy were making me sick and the scene in africa is so sad (all those kids without mothers, that one mother-25 yrs. of age in the hospital dying of aids, no drugs....) errrr oprah just.... lets just say, if she CARED FULLY she could do more. its so sad... its like shes using THEM to promote HERSELF. just makes me wanna cry.
honestly, if i had the resources, i would go to africa to help those people. we really do have it good here. that one woman (white) that took in 72 african children that are orphans and they all looked so happy, man... id love to do that.
i know and i do give her SOME credit but when you see her SPARKLING earrings and know abotu her estate it makes me wonder if she's doing it for THEM or for HER. (to look good).
I find Oprah so boring to watch these days. I guess I'm just a trash head, but when I flick the channel over to Ricki and shes doing a 'My mothers, brothers cousin is sleeping with my husbands flatmates stuffed deer!' episode, man, I just can't resisit watchin'.
I love it when Oprah gets in there and gets her hands dirty! (Can you hear me dripping with sarcasm?) Whoopee, she raised 8 million dollars. She is a billionaire. She could find 8 million dollars in her couch! She should just fork over a little of it, you know?
LOL Well, I guess it beats Maury Povich (or as my sister says, "Marry The Po' Bitch") and his stupid "Which of these 364 men are my baby's daddy?" shows that he does every day.
exactly. shes on there just getting attention and acting like she cares and people say "ohhh oooppprrrahhh...." "she went to africa and helped them." mean while...she goes back to her estate and watches herself on tv and checks out her hair and her jewerly.

Good point. Like others have said, at least she's raising awareness. (Or hmm maybe some people watch these shows and think "Oh, she's already contributed enough, i'll leave the real issues to celebrities and the wealthy".) But still, she cracks me up no matter what she's doing. She's on the cover of EVERY issue of her magazine. That's what gets me the most.
I think Oprah does care. She does have the resources to help people, and I do think she wants to help people. But she definitely does a good turn job of turning me off. She often has folks on her show (well, I haven't watched it in I don't know how long because I've been out of the country) advising others to spend frugally. But she spends shitloads of money on birthday parties, houses, and vacations. I guess that's her definition of spending frugally.
