I don't think I'd count as that "true barefooter" reference you made, then. I still have to wear -something- when I have no other choice. Or in those times where it would be (in my opinion) rude, like a 100% formal wedding in a wonderfully decorated, wedding hall. (If I were getting married, I wouldn't mind if people went barefoot, but I can't assume other people wouldn't mind me being barefoot, especially relatives back in my home country that I haven't seen in a while that didn't know I prefer going barefoot.) But even if there are no special events going on, I unfortunately still can't be purely 24/7 barefoot. Not until those certain "other people" become more open minded.
