Opeth doesn't have a "new" drummer, they had a different drummer for Orchid and Morningrise, but Martin Lopez has been their drummer for like 6 albums.
Yeah, shredding can get a bit much, but I don't feel like JP's solos get into wanking...except for in their latest album, Train of Thought.

Petrucci isn't nearly as bad as others...he definately isn't a wanker. Just too much technique for me. Honestly, I haven't heard as much Dream Theater as I should.
There is an Opeth song I really like but I dunno the title. Some lyrics: "Into the orchid I walk peering way past the gate, wilted scenes for those who couldn't wait"...What's it called?
could be harvest....could be...god damn it i know this song...it's all soft and finger picking like...i keep thinking requim for a dream but thats totally not it.. oh yea!! patterns in the ivy... but like i said, it COULD be one of those two songs...im leaning more towards patterns in the ivy though. really im not too good with songs and lyrics, i listen to albums as a whole.
