I've never shot anyone, just targets and empty pop cans and stuff.

I'd never shoot a person, ever. I don't even think I could shoot an animal, although I do have a lot of respect for the sport of hunting, if people follow the regulations and do it properly.

I grew up in a culture where deer hunting is popular and venison is often shared between friends and family. I have no problem with hunting small game for food.

big game hunting for sport however is disgusting.

This is ironic to me since they offered archery, rifle, and shotgun shooting as merit badges when I was in scouts.

i'd rather see people carrying something they wouldn't have to feel hesitant to defend themselves with, that they didn't have to worry about killing or perminently injuring someone.

we have pepper spray and tazers, neither are perfect, and i'd like to see ultrasonic personal arms too. but the whole idea of gun, is to be able to kill or mame someone, or threaten them with doing so.

i really don't believe we live in a world where it would make sense for everyone to go around doing that to each other,

and i know it would certainly not be my choice to live in one where it did.

i think too many people have a video game world in their heads, where the way to open a door is to point a gun at it.

i'd rather have a walking stick, of multiple functions, stout enough to serve as a quarter staff, but with many of these other functions built in.

i guess i just always thought gandelf was cooler then all the sword fighters and bat masterson on tv, then all the quick draw gun toters.
