I don't have a problem with guns. I enjoy some occasional target shooting with friends. But I don't understand the mentality of people who open-carry. What is the point? They clearly must be trying to convey a message or they would just conceal their weapon. So maybe the message is "Hey, everyone! Look at me! Look what I have and I don't care what you think about it!"....which obviously isn't true because they care enough to make sure everyone knows they are carrying.

The other message might be "I'm armed. Don't fuck with me!" Fair enough...but why show your hand? If I'm carrying a weapon, I don't want anyone to know about it. It reminds me of a time when my wife and I were out to dinner and I noticed a guy at another table with a .45 on his belt. I told my wife "The guy might want to feel safe but if I were going to commit some kind of atrocity....I'd kill him first since I know he has a gun and he'd never even see it coming". Why put a target on your back?

If I posted my "resume", most people would probably say that I'm highly trained and accomplished in numerous martial arts/fighting disciplines and probably not someone that most people would want to tangle with....if they knew that (perfect concealed weapon btw). But I would never wear a t-shirt or have a bumper sticker advertising it. When I was a boxer at a certain university, we were not allowed to wear or carry anything that identified us as team members in any place where alcohol was being served for that very reason. It might invite someone filled with liquid courage to think it's a good idea to see if he could take one of us.

If I had a gun on me....nobody would know it until they were in imminent danger of it being used on them.

Which one in the above photos is you, r0llin? The contrast between the big dude and the tiny dude is kind of comical.

    But concerning the topic:

I don't like guns, nor do I particularly support owning them. I do understand the need, in these times, to own them in some places. I don't see why you would ever need to openly carry them in public. I would be incredibly uncomfortable if I were eating in that restaurant in the photographs. I don't trust strangers with huge, intimidating-looking weapons, and it certainly wouldn't make me feel any safer. I'm almost sure that you would be more likely to accidentally shoot someone or yourself in a public place than you would be to successfully hit a criminal. I'm sure you're lovely OP, but if I saw someone sporting a gun like that in public, I would probably just assume they weren't too bright. There are better and more persuasive ways to prove a point.

I am a southern guy, and to me a gun is a tool. You can use it for hunting, home protection, and recreation. I'm not naive and ignorant to the point of believing that an inanimate object is bad. But a point I would like to make is that people have been deceived into believing that their rights come from rulers, which put them on an old piece of hemp paper. Your inalienable rights are from the universe (Or god given). You are the natural living man or woman, and no badge, judge, ruler, or municipality has the universal right to control, modify, restrict, or prohibit yours.

I don't disagree with you generally but I think rights are just some made up shit. Every single animal on this planet has more "rights" and freedom than humans do. We're the only ones who have to pay to be here and you aren't just going to leave your assigned area any time you want. Don't take my word for it.....try to live without paying for anything or try to leave the country without proper documentation....and see how meaningful your life and "rights" are. Every other animal has it much more natural than we do and if they need to have one single "right"...it's for us to not fuck shit up in their environment.

I will leave this thought and post with the man who sounds the most like the voice in my head when I think about fucked up shit in this world....George.

Wizard, I agree with you. ...and animals also have the right to be left alone and not have people shoot them just for the hell of it and for fun....or to taxidermy their heads on a wall....Man is so ugly vain....the ones who would do this....kill for fun.
    ugliest creature on earth, imo.

I've fired assault rifles in my military days. Much caution was taken. I had no care to own one upon leaving not even a small firearm. I was a medic and saw the damage they do.

Just be responsible. I remember that one army chick who posed with a gun around a bunch of naked prisoners. Me and my friend were gonna replicate it with medic dummies and dummie rifles but thought better of it. Be responsible with guns AND what kinda pictures you post online.

My words are of the way things should be, not what they are. The sad truth is that people do force their will upon you, and you are well within your universal rights to resist their will. I will never deny that there is a cost associated with it though. As far as for trying to live without paying for anything, I have lived in such a way, and it's not easy.

I bring my gun everywhere I go with me, you can't trust anyone. That's what my Uncle told me before he died in a shooting accident (Was trying to open up a pint of paint handless)

Coffee is a dangerous transaction, those beans come right off of the projects of Africa. And it's best to be prepared if one of the gangsters travelled on the cargo shipment

I work as a waiter at apple bee's and I make sure my customers know I'm packing. Get great tips everytime, and sure I've seen a dine and dash, but turned into a crawl real fast.
