Well mate, that's because He is And isn't this whole thread under the assumption that God exists (him waving his "fat hand" and all...) He did show himself, and does show Himself everyday. Ask Saul/Paul, or just as important, ask Campbell34
Yes, it's all an assumption that God exists. My assumption is based on the facts. I could be wrong about any assumption I've made. But that's not your concern. You need to decide for yourself whether to assume God's real, assume he's not, or to not care either way and forget about the issue. I only really hope that people don't choose the third option, because if it is true, it's the most important issue there could ever be.
ah so your finally saying its not fact. and i dont believe in those hallucinations and mental things. we need a solid formed giant or something all holy etc to appear in human form on the news etc then id believe. and considering god doesent have much to do up there he could spare a few hours
Where did I say that? You're 2 millenia late Unless the end-of-the-world is coming soon, in which case, you're early
Can't it be said that God is the way some define the force that we were created from? You admit that we are here and alive, some have defined that force as the Great Spirit.
I completely understand what you are saying. "God" doesn't have to be some entity up in heaven that sent his son to the earth to die for our sins, blah blah blah... If a naturalist comes to me and tells me that he thinks that the forces of nature is his god, I wouldn't argue that his "god" didn't exist. In fact, if think if we are going to call anything "god" it I think it should be the powerful universe we live in, and the earth that nurtures and sustains us. (This is probably pure heresy posting this in the christian forum hehe)
WELL, with that said, i offer the hug of agreement =) You can't build an anti-thesis of "god" or "goddess" by what only one religion claims their god did. I worship the earth, our Mother. She exists, no doubt. I also worship the tribal gods of my ancestry. My ancestors existed no question either. As to an all knowing, all creating deity? I dont know if i can imagine it, but i know he didnt come from the Middle East.
maybe he dident come from anywhere east or west, or maybe he is a mix of all the religions, or just maybe... ITS ALL TOADSHIT LIES AND PROPOGANDA!
Woodstock, what I meant was that I know Yahweh didnt create it all. Study a little religion before you take your opposition, it might help you sound like you know what you are talking about.
Fuzzy, its not ego. The fact that every culture has a creation myth gives me right to know that none of them were the truth. And, based on Semitic mythology, Yahweh didnt create anything. It was later, and this is fact, that the scriptures were changed. So now, with some evidence, i know that Yahweh didnt create it all. Better?
My journal is on here, in the Forums. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=37 so check that link, if it doesnt work, look on the forum homepage, down in the left corner should have a journal link. Glad you like our arts, we have more going up soon. My friend todd is up, and we are adding his drums and flutes, and I will have drums on there soon too. We are a tribe of adopted family, building a commune, and sharing our spirituality together, so the website is ours to all share and put our work on. I wasnt trying to battle you either, but im not one of those people who have to sugar coat something by saying "believe" Its a fact of the myths that he didnt create it, its a BELIEF that he did. Big difference. Besides, youre an atheist whats it matter! lol. Well, i appreciate the sincerety. I think we could talk with more civility now.
Depends on what you mean when you say "worship". If you're talking about rituals, dogma, and institutionalised religion then you've got a good point. But if you equate the notion of "God" with the forces of nature and/or the creative powers of the universe, or even the universe itself, and "worship" with trying to tap into it or at least live in harmony with it, then you're opening yourself up to a consistant sense of order and a resulting peace that the rational human mind can't achieve or comprehend on it's own. Not asking you to beleive this, just explaining the concept.
Sounds good man. I would love you to add a link, we need all the exposure we can get. Now that I have a PC ( i use mac) to work on it from, we should have lots more stuff up, and working with other sites banner swapping and such. I appreciate it man, thanks.
haha well the joke is i actually did religious studies for GCSE and got an A so i think i have eh? i learned so many bloody christianity quotes which i never even got to use coz the bloody exam was supposed to have taken place 2 weeks earlier! anyway i studied christianuty and buddism. and damn me buddhism is the only religion i respect THEY HAVE TAKEN NUTHIN BUT CRAP IN TIBET BUT DO WE SEE ANY TERRORISTS OR FOLLOWERS SAYING we are all scum> no i dont think so. thye respect me, so i certainly respect them and thats my 2 quid
Oh sorry, you're right. Taking a class counts. Why is it only Buddhism that you respect? What about it i mean. What about Confucianism, thats a pretty good one. It lacks more theism than buddism does. If that is why you like it I mean. I am just guessing here. I respect all peoples faith, but I rarely respect the people. But thats just me
I'm right the opposite. I respect people as human beings. I don't respect religion or people's "faith" (i.e. gullibility).
