I think most of the people understand that it's not necessary to backcomb or crochet or palmroll or whatever. People do it because they like the way their dreads look when they do. And maybe they don't have the patience to completely neglect. You may not agree that it looks better, but they obviously think it does if they continue to do it.

Is this really how my hair would have looked after 6-8 weeks of neglect?!

I do obviously get your point. I know that nothing is "necessary" to grow dreads, other than hair...but stop with the dread lies please!
It's no less misinformative and bullshitty than the "evil" dread product websites.

that is totally not true, there is no way my dreads would have been anywhere close to what they were in 2 months if i went natural, and i can bet most people would say the same

Bought a flea comb (That fine toothed enough for ya? LOL) my under bottom babies are tighter now, and my top ones are ACE, in my opinion.
    A lot better than yesterday.
I ripped a fat one in half, fixed it and it looks better.

I think my hair problems are pretty much fixed, thanks to all of you.
I think I got this down.

Don't be hating on Souringeagle, he's just giving advice from his personal journey. Might not work for others, but it sure obviously worked well for him. Haha.

So, another question. I've been eying this beautiful dread beads for a while.

But if I order them, do I simply just slip my dread through or do I have to use something to pull it through?
You would think it'd splinter the dread pretty bad if you tried to slip it in, right?

    i used a flea comb =]

when im putting beads on i kinda fold the end of the dread up, so its not all wispy and difficult to push thru, and then i just pull the hair through, push the bead up.. voila =]
