One thing you would change in past history?

I'd like to make sure religions didn't get started. Religious belief has been a major cause of most of the wars and empires in history.


As for the Hitler discussion - if you've read history you'll know that in 1912 Hitler spent a year or so living in Vienna, where anti-semitic propanda was rife. He was initially appalled, but eventually persuaded by the propangandists there.
Without Hitler, nothing would have changed except that small moustaches wouldn't have gone out of fashion.

 

I'd either change that Lennon was assassinated or get rid of religion.

We learn from mistakes if there are no problems, then there is nothing to fix and i have a feeling that would cause problems.Because some people get bored and make up problems like evil potheads and durranged girls running around braless or the crazy gum chewers, chewing on their gum...it's crazy........

 

I would take out the ancient Jew's exodus from Egypt, and then see how much different the modern world would be.

Actually we do learn.

Well, at least most of the world's leading powers.

For example, we avoided nuclear war during that entire Cold War period that lasted a good four decades.

We haven't had a world war for over 70 years!

And, despite what you may think, the world is now more peaceful than it has ever been in recorded history.

I'd like to see what would have been the difference if King Harold had won at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. I'm pretty sure the world would be very different.

 

actually we had a better chance in 1917 when we landed troops in northern Russia but President Wilson eventually pulled them out. in 1917 Russia was in chaos, the new Bolshevik government was weak and not completely in control, and there were still enough white Russian troops (anti-Bolshevik) involved in the civil war that if the allies (Britain and the US mainly) had supported them the Lenin regime might not have lasted. by 1945 the communist regime was entrenched and had just beaten Hitler with a battle-hardened army that was already in Germany and Poland. It would have been almost impossible militarily to defeat the Russian army in 1945 without using atomic bombs against what was our ally in defeating Germany.

 

A better idea, throw JW Booth in jail before he can go to the theater. Wouldhave cut short the resurgence of racism in the US and prevented Johnson from becoming President.

 

Selfishly I'd stop myself making the mistake I made nearly 5 years ago that hurt my wife so deeply that we've barely had sex since.

 

Robert E Lee would not give up his commission in the US army and join the Confederacy. The South might have been quickly defeated instead of Civil War dragging on for 4 years.
