Years ago, a former neighbor gave me a Reel to Reel tape machine . Luckily, I was barely learning the guitar. Soon, I was learning Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Schenker, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne's first LP and Led Zeppelin . This device came out in the early 2000's, they have an MP3 version and others make similar devices. Pictured below is a Tascam CD-GT2 Guitar Phrase Trainer. It has built in guitar effects, you can pan you guitar on the left and the CD could be panned to the right has a tuner . You could add a footswitch to make the music " Flashback " five seconds back to learn difficult guitar parts and you can slow it down without affecting the pitch . Devices like these are great to learn you favorite music from you favorite band or learn the music of a band you're auditioning for .
That's so cool. I could use one now! Tascam makes a lot of great products. I had their mini Portastudio four track mixer/cassette recorder back in the 80s. I recorded many things on that, they sold well!
I have a Tascam 414 Cassette Recorder, it gives great compressed warmth that lacks in digital recording equipment and especially with a BBE Sonic Maximizer to enhanhance the lows and highs . Then I transfer the analog signal to digital recorder to give those 1's and zero's some life .
