If this was their concern they wouldn't be working for Fox.

Plus they're all worth millions no matter what network they work for. That alone guarantees public opinion is rarely on their minds.

It sickens and offends me deeply, but it also doesn't surprise me.

Just clicked on the petition link and looks like Fox News actually issued an apology. There's a 20 second video.

I know maybe if there was this much concern over the economy and the direction our country is going there would be solutions to embrace. I saw on the news about "hundreds of thousands" of people marching for austerity. In America the only time people flip out is if an alternative "religion" is somehow threatened or the favorite team didn't win. No wonder the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. The rich have the poor distracted perfectly.

It has to do with the freedom of religion. It may not be as important as other issues but for those of us who are pagan or were raised pagan it hits personally. I am glad they apologized. I am more agnostic than pagan these days but I was very pagan as a child and it was not easy growing up in a small Christian community.

Okay since you care so much about religious freedom why don't you stand up for Christians? And yes I know how it is growing up among asshole Christians who aren't real Christians at all but hide behind God, hate gays, minorities, etc and evangelize till it's been done to death. But the ones who believe in unity and peace. Because you can start on this website with all the anti Christian posts and rhetoric that floats around on here and is essentially promoted by most of the senior members.

No, because it wasn't just him. It's one of those generic 'apologies' people like him do all the time. It looked like he 'took one for the team'.
But I suppose that's the best it's going to get...

Pretty sure an internet forum and a national news organization are held to different standards.

But I get what you're saying. Back in my pagan days there were a lot of pagans that just ripped on Xtianity and then in the same breath demanded people be tolerant of them. It was one of the many hypocrisies that drove me from that community.

Of course they are. But it's really disgusting that people are bullied on this website by people based solely on their religion. I get it's an internet forum but I guarantee you if I posted a thread bashing Jews or Muslims or any other faith and uploaded meme after meme bashing their personal religious choice I'd be banned. So why do people get to trash Christianity? I can guarantee you it will be allowed to continue. And certain members who express outright bigotry are allowed to continue to discriminate others. The mods do nothing and believe me if I were bringing up discrimination towards anything other than Christianity the mods would immediately shut down the "discrimination".

i didn't see them stopping anyone from being wiccan or pagan.

it would have been nice if they had apologized on their own, but i think i feel worse now that they allowed themselves to be bullied into an apology.

In somewhat poor taste, but.... sort of true.

The chick was all about christianity and christmas or whatever, but she had nothing to say anyways..... Well both of them, in fact.

The guys pretty much got it spot on. Wiccans are generally D&D players under the age of 30, or single women somewhat over 30..... (to paraphrase them).

Some people are serious about it, and that's their perogative. I really don't see that it was newsworthy, and that stupid bitch needs to shut up about how you can't be a wiccan in any other country (because if you go to the actual freedom loving countries, like in scandanavia, you actually CAN) but considering it's fox news, it was actually reasonably balanced.

I did sort of feel that it's unfair that nobody told that bitch that christmas is the christian name for the pagan solstice celebration, with such pagan trappings as the christmas tree, and that jesus was born in the spring/summer, but ehh... women on fox news are insufferable bitches, it's a job requirement.

I mean, yeah, I don't really give a fuck about pagan holidays, pagans can celebrate them and I don't need to, and I don't think fox news needed to say anything about it.

But my only problem with it was the way it's supposed to make christians feel put upon. Oh, there's more of us, but they have holidays now, it's a war on jeebus....

I just want to say I have no problem with other people's religions or belief systems. The majority of my friends are atheists, Wiccans, Subgenius. But I just think people should be able to talk about religion without ridicule, no matter what religion.

I think the difference is Christianity is an inheritely violent and hateful religion in many ways; I've never seen any hate or violence or bigotry from wicca.

That's all well and fine, and I agree.

But it's pretty silly to go after an apology from fox news.

They are nuts and bigots, but the same constitution that gives wiccans that right, does give fox news the right to be christian, and to say stupid shit.

That said, the apology from fox actually was quite impressive, and if anything, seriously improved my opinion of them....
