yeahh i had a bad experience with way too much salt in corona, and that same night i smelled poo and barfed before i even had 2 beers in me. i had to move on to beer bongs and liquor to kill the memories. corona tastes like piss and brings me ill luck
well, i have 3 bottles of gross beer in the fridge (labatt's) but today is payday and this thread got me wanting some craft beers... so i picked up a bottle of terrible also something i know next to nothing abut: mikkeller double ipa
i love documentaries, particularly nature or science related ones. i do like history books. i recommend "a pirate of exquisite mind" about william dampier, who made fantastic advances in many fields (navigation, charting water and air currents, the many creatures of the world....he circumnavigated the world THREE times when it was a heroic feat to do it once....visited australia before captain cook ever did...found out the tongue is the only part of the flamingo worth eating...he's even credited with being a major influence on darwin's theory of natural selection) also books about the varied types of spiritual experiences, practices, and beliefs of the world.... i enjoy math when i understand it but would rather avoid it. i dont play many video games or collect pokemon cards or comic books, if thats what you're asking (i do love animation though, if it isnt obvious)
Holy crap, that's exactly the kind of stuff I'm into! I checked the book out on Amazon and it looks really interesting. I put it on my wish list. Jeez, I actually AM in love with you. lol Next on my list is a book about the Bounty. I want to find out more about what happened to them on Pitcairn. I would eat flamingo tongue! I've had duck tongue. It was okay. Kinda fatty. And it turns out ducks have bones in their tongues - who knew? - which is a little inconvenient. Nature docs are my favorite too...Planet Earth is the best thing that's ever happened to me. And yeah, that's the kind of nerd I was hoping you meant. Have you read "Life On Air", David Attenborough's biography? It's awfully good - I'm in love with David Attenborough.
no, i haven't been reading as much lately as i'd like to. recently though i've been reading more...the past week or so. tao te ching and a book about ISKCon, which i'm about to send in the mail so someone else can read it. i just want to get through most of it quickly to refresh my memory first i REALLY want to learn about the bounty and all those folks....i know that almost none of whats in the lyrics on the album are grounded in any kind of historic fact (as far as i know) rasputinas last album "oh, perilous world" has LOTS of allusions to it and its sort of captured my imagination. i looked it up on wikipedia and its pretty interesting....i'd like to find a good book about it or something.
anyway, to return to the topic at hand, this mikkeller is great! i'll see if i can find it on beeradvocate.com..... its very nice, with moderate chunky sediment, a very dark amber hue, great head retention (served in a duvel tulip), a wonderful hop presence and a nice lingering flavor. at 9% ABV its rather warming, too.
^^for those who wanna get drunk on a low budget, natty ice reminds me of highschool, but boy does it taste like piss
I just tried this beer tonight cause I was looking for something different in the beer case at the liquor store. It's called Shock Top Belgian White. It's made by Anheuser-Busch actually, and is not a real belgiun beer. But a wheat beer, and it's really light and tasty. I guess it's brewed with lemon, lime, and orange peel, and coriander. It was easy to drink and gave me a nice buzz for 2 beers. I drank them with a slice of orange of course in the style of belgiun beer, and that enhanced the citrus flavor even more. It was 7.99 for a 6 pack.
