Communism is an ideal state that never will exist and never has. Socialism just means government control of key industries and resources. We have that. We just call it something different. But corporate welfare? We're the only country in the world that has that.
cor·po·rate wel·fare noun government support or subsidy of private business, such as by tax incentives. Dictionary/Definitions from Oxford Languages/Copyright © 2024 Oxford University Press.
OK, I agree. I was hoping you didn't think corporations were doling out welfare LOL! I think the EU is also guilty of that. Every industry there is somehow subsidized.
Here in the UK, our medical records are held on 3 computer systems that do not talk to each other, plus numerous more on old individual hospital systems that talk to no one. If a consultant s dealing with a patient away from his dedicated terminal, he simply gets a message "ACCESS DENIED".
Weapons are the single largest manufactured export, worldwide. Everybody is pointing guns at each other, killing each other, threatening to invade anyone in-between them even, stealing everything they can from each other, and censoring half of reality. More democrats than republicans now want to do away with the constitution altogether, and calling it even crony capitalism is a joke in bad taste, because there never was anybody in charge around here! Donald Duck is emperor of the world, and a wanted man in Tehran, while even the UN has been forced to admit, with global warming, there's nobody in charge around here!
Wonder what that smirk on the side of the truck is about…..we just lost a famous Washington State resident. For the past 30 years Bezos was a resident and paid no income taxes and reaped the rewards of a progressive State. Well, we now have a 7% capital gains tax and guess who is avoiding an estimated $600 million dollars of taxes on planned stock sales by moving to Florida with no income or capital gains taxes and an education system and infrastructure that shows it. Gross. Capitalism is so ugly….but that’s what RR (aw shucks) really had in mind.
They can use banks to conceal their money offshore, or wherever. Without a fundamental change in the banks, even the banks are screwed, with the wealthy and powerful only now beginning to catch on, that AI could not care less about the best laid plans of mice and men... Stay tuned, for part II, of Money Brains! Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely, But Money Is Even Quicker Than Liquor!
Not necessarily. It can mean that, but it has far more to do with how you treat your citizens rather than government control over resources. Capitalism treats it's citizens as resources to be exploited, taxed, left to rot if they can't work. Socialism provides the safety net so all citizens have equal access to medical care, time off work, old age care, etc.
Networking systems logic argues differently. Capitalism is based on Three Stooges slapstick, the default networking systems logic in a Singularity. They organize like chickens, or Archie Bunker, promoting war, weapons, alcoholism, rape, racism, sexism, divorce, child abuse, patricide, and suicide. Their behavior reflects their own cellular level default, which even encourages them to rape people of a different race, to ensure their dna is not lost forever. Both German and Japan recovered from WWII, but their population is imploding faster than any other, since the invention of birth control. Capitalism relies on people having no choice, but to reproduce, and is becoming more desperate with each new technology being introduced, because they're all happily committing Voluntary Genocide. Politics are not rocket science, comprehend all the lies in academia, and the truth speaks for itself. The idiots could not teach a child how to use a dictionary, if their lives depended on it. Divide and conquer is easy for the Three Stooges, when academics can't agree on the definition of stupid.
If "we" is the U.S., I beg to differ. Virtually all of the key industries and resources in the U.S.are controlled by large private corporations, with a relatively few exceptions like the U.S. Postal Service, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Export-Import Bank, he Federal Prison Industries, etc. https://247wallst.com/special-report/2021/07/18/14-businesses-run-by-the-us-government/ Relative to most major nations, we're as un-socialist as they come! As for corporate welfare, I agree that the U.S. leads the pack, but it's not the only government in the world that subsidizes private interests. Canada spent $352.1 billion (inflation-adjusted) subsidizing private companies from 2007 to 2019.Governments in Canada spent more than $350 billion on corporate welfare: op-ed U.K taxpayers subsidized private businesses £93bn a year in 2013. The £93bn handshake: businesses pocket huge subsidies and tax breaks France gave an unprecedented package of some 300 billion euros in benefits to private industry during the COVID pandemic, including 7 billion to Air France and 5 billion to Renault, etc. Allô Bercy? Corporate Welfare in a Time of Pandemic Let's be accurate!
