You know, I was going to put this in Christian or Judaism section. But I think I'll put it here instead . Pagans, Wiccans, Voodoo practitioners, Indigenous, etc. who pray (much like the Christians, etc. who do) are merely worshipping Fortūna, the Roman goddess of fortune and luck. Notice the gubernaculum or ship's rudder in her right hand. It merely guides the boat thru the stream (which represents life). It doesn't force.
