So how's it going with you? Lately my orders have been getting screwed up. Nothing wrong with the merchandise but I keep getting postage due shipments. The first was a $2.91 postage due from ebay for an electric razor for my father in November. The second was a $2.91 postage due from ebay for a USB WiFi adapter for me in November. No, I didn't type that wrong, both were for $2.91 and both were supposed to be free shipping. So I had to contact ebay and two different vendors to get my money back. Which I did. Now today I received a $7.45 postage due on a $5.59 fuel cap from RockAuto. I already paid a shipping charge of $2.99 which added up to a shipping charge of $10.44 for a $5.59 part. I'm currently fighting RockAuto for this one as they have no phone help line and their robot type in thingy doesn't work, and if you call their service number all it tells you is that they have no service number...good bye! Try it out yourself. And the help section on their website has no option for postage due. I had to search the net to find their email address as it isn't on their website. They did answer me, to my surprise, but asked a bunch of questions and told me I need a receipt even though I sent a photo of the package with the postage due stamp and amount on it, order number, confirmation, etc. So I have to get a receipt from the mail lady tomorrow. Stay tuned. On top of all that, my wife received her $50.00 lampshade from Wayfair, opened the box..... ....and found three identical lampshades and a packing slip for her one lampshade and another packing slip for some lady in New York, and they charged her $18.00 each for her two lampshades. She called Wayfair and reported it and they said they wondered what happened to that order and just keep the shades. We're going to use them as hats.
I haven't had any issues with eBay or Reverb.com for used music gear... Some of that stuff was heavy and/or oversize too. One guy asked if I could kick in another $50 for shipping... When I saw the shipping receipt I agreed, the request was legit. He wasn't holding the shipment hostage, it was already in transit. Nothing "Postage due" though. I've had some problems with stupid FedEx drivers....
If i were you i wouldn't bother with ordering stuff online from Ebay and other sites that are similar. They can scam you big time. I have my favourite stores that i can buy stuff directly from and it doesn't take much to know that it's going to be delivered. I would report any site that is making you pay for postage and handling when it was free in the first place.
Is That Really A Pic Of You "MeAgain'.....????... WOW....I Never Realised You Were That "Cute"...... Cheers Glen.
I just like real life shopping, when there aren't any crowds that is Plus, there is Facebook market place where a lot of people try flog unwanted gifts, as a result they end up being cheaper than both in-store and online retail The only things I have bothered ordering online the last couple years are mobile phone cases I can't easily get instore
Yeah, there is something to be said for buying things in real life. I just can't get a feel for an item buying it online--especially clothing.
I Don't Know How Peeps Can Buy Clothes Online.......I Have Enough Probs In The Shops. For Example......I Confirm My Size In A T-Shirt.....Then Decide To Buy Others In Different Colours......BUT....... They Are A Different Label And Their Sizing Is Not The Same As The First. Can't See How Clothes Shopping On Line Can Be Other Than A String Of "Returns"..... Cheers Glen.
You have to learn which shirt fits you best and then see what brand the online retailers use. I'll even ask merch stands at gigs what the brand of the shirt is to see if I'll buy it because I know what is the best, what can make do and I know the brand that is the worst brand ever.
I live about 45 minutes from any retail stores except for a Dollar store, grocery, and pharmacy so it's a pain to "head to town". That leads to a three hour trip at the least as we hit all the stores we need to at once and my wife spends an eternity in each one. Plus most items I buy on line can't be had locally. Like the gas cap. Parts stores don't carry a cap with a tether, which my wife insisted on, so they'd have to order it anyway, if they could even get one. Then I have to drive at least a half hour to get it. My colored pencils came from Japan, and I'm not driving there. We do buy and sell on Facebook and Craig's List. And no Glen, that's not me...I look better than that!
My Jimmy John's sammies are perfectly made every time and on-time within minutes from my home. The cookie is still warm as well as the sammy Absolutely worth every penny online ordering
@MeAgain, I would consider returning them to the sender. Typically shipping is pre-arranged such that when you place the order, you know how going to turn out. You pay, you get your package, or alternately they pay and you still get your package. It sounds a little like a scam to me.
Last thing i bought online was about 6 months ago. I buy as little as possible And live in a city center.
i seriously morn the demise of brick and mortar specialty store fronts. moving to on line is understandable, and the world we seem now in many parts of the world, like the one where i live, seems to have gone that way. which is why, i'm not longer able to purchase the majority of what my casual purchases would otherwise be. no means of electronic or even mechanical communication is ever entirely secure. not even the military. although the banks had an algorithm that came close enough to it, until the government refused to let them use anything they couldn't hack. well the banks and cash machines are secure enough for their own purposes i guess, and at any rate not my concern. but there really is no data security for anything an ordinary person does on line. this the only reason i haven't donated the very small stipend to this site, or indeed a number of other causes i in spirit support. the "city" where i live, little more then a decade ago had 3, not one but 3, stores selling scale model building supplies, today it has none. it doesn't really have the kind of discount computer and electronics supermarket like fry's, where i lived a decade ago before moving up here for lower rents. limited bandwidth is for me a problem too. the last download i purchased directly online, that was years ago now, was never able to completely download undamaged, but i was able to get it to mostly run, and that was after multiple attempts at downloading it. to make a long story short, i therefore do not do anything to do with my ever so limited resources on line. i do get by. rent and groceries do not, as yet, require shopping for them on line. my landlord still accepts cash or check, and the grocers accept debit cards and cash.
I haven't had many issues. I order online a lot. I dont have the patience to shop brick and mortar. I usually know exactly what I want going into it and if I have to go to 3 or 4 stores to find what I'm looking for, it can eat into an entire afternoon. Ain't nobody got time for that. Versus taking 10 minutes to find what I need online while I'm sitting on the pooper.
