Being low in intelligence and being immature are not the same thing. Take for example that famous photo of Einstein, with his tongue sticking out. It was taken March 14, 1951 on his birthday, as he was leaving his birthday party at Princeton University.

Because you know he was very immature. Ask anyone who knew him. But we all know Einstein was the smartest man alive. Even though he was also very immature...

BTW he later told Princeton he wanted that tongue photo saved as his official university photo. Did you know that?

A quarter of the developed world still insists the sun revolves around the earth, and that they're mature adults.

Another thing about stupidity, or true stupidity. There is the scene from the 1994 movie "Forrest Gump". A man meets Gump for the first time when Gump makes a mistake and the man asks "Are you stupid or something?" Forrest Gump does have an IQ of 75 in the movie. But as Forrest points out to the man his mother had a saying, "Stupid is as stupid does". Meaning sometimes you're only as stupid as you act.

The complete saying is, stupid is as stupid does, or stupid would know better, and be just a little to smart for their own britches. The Tea Party caught on in the last few years, and has been working to censor anything related to the saying. They're literally attempting to suppress even Biblical sayings, if they don't support their insanity.

Note that Forest could not repeat the entire saying without possibly sounding ready to fight, which would have been out of character.

It's amazing how people take biblical quotes out of context to prove some point.

The real point is that the bible is just a compilation of sayings and supposed incidents that were really just legends or spins on what really went down in an attempt to explain things they didn't understand. "God" is the scapegoat for everything. Rather than taking responsibility, so much easier to blame a non-existent entity, just like primitive tribes do.

Humans eat that shit up. "Oh, you mean the reason we're building this ark is because a non-existent entity talked to you? Cool!" - Noah's son.

Unfortunately this kind of B.S. leads to this:
"God invented Donald Trump" - typical MAGA person.

I think that is the modern day main use to which the bible is put. (I don't do religion though have my own views).
I think /wonder about a lot of the stores in it.
How much of the readings in the bible do we interpret using today's knowledge/education and intellect.

Apparently somebody parted the waves. How do we know that wasn't just when the tide went out a causeway was exposed?

Five loaves and two fishes... were those terms the same back then, bearing in mind that:
    a. one trout = fish
    b. two trout = fish
    c. one trout and one pike = fishes

So there could have been lots of trout and lots of another fish which means the number doesn't equate to a quantity
And there may have been other foodstuffs too which weren't actually mentioned?

    Other things too.

I'm always questioning. Never meaning to cause offence though I'd rather debunk something than follow it blindly.

William Henley is often considered a better author than Shakespear, and added a lot of the salty quotes in the Bible, only to be burned alive at the stake, by the same lynch mobs that would eventually adopt his Bible, as the official one of lynch mobs everywhere. So, I tell people, pay attention to the cartoon! The more humor anyone adds to the Bible, no matter how tongue in cheek it is, the faster they kill them, and attempt to make even the dictionary taboo. Adding logic to the Bible, or any religious text, encourages Three Stooges slapstick.

Actually, on the subject now of just intelligence, during the 2000 presidential campaign, there was some controversy that George W. Bush didn't know the names of world leaders. Now I never would would have voted for him. But sometimes I liked his style. An exchange between George W. Bush went like this:

Newscaster: "Mr. Bush. Do you know the president of Ecuador?"
George W. Bush: "No, I don't. Do you?"

"Do you". Get it? Actually you know, it was later revealed Bush did better in college than Gore. He just sounds less intelligent for some reason, which is the other thing. And he can't pronounce "nuclear".

Academia insists they are the smartest in the world, yet a quarter of their students claim they are sadly mistaken, and the sun revolves around the earth.

I was going to create a separate thread for this. But it's a good topic to bring up here too.

We find "dumb" attractive sometimes. Nothing wrong with that. But evolutionarily that doesn't make sense. So why do we do it then?

Humor and logic express particle-wave duality, and so do we. The child within is the spark within that can never die.
