the word "cult" comes up and people go nuts. People see red and want to find the nearest pitchfork and torch and run some folks out of town. The dividing line between a cult and an actual group is really very very very simple. Real cults break laws. They break laws in the actual criminal code. If a group is not breaking any laws, odds that they are some kind of cult are extremely low. And the basic solution for cults in society is simply to let law enforcement prosecute criminal offenses. Cults can't survive the attention to their criminal activity.
