I've had my hopes on moving to Boston and from there - Going to Berklee for a few years. That's just a dream though. I know a few people who've gone to Berklee and are going to Berklee... plus there are many well known people who have gone there... As I said - just a dream. I'd like to get away from this place they call the south and move somewhere with a bit more sanity... I don't like eastern virginia a whole lot. If you were going somewhere in the south and weren't going there on vacation, I'd rather go somewhere like the Appalachians... I love the blue ridge mountains over further west around the shennandoah valley and past that into Tennessee and North Carolina. The last time I went to the blue ridge mountains I couldn't hear anything for about an hour on the way there because my ears were so messed up from the pressure and elevation change. I even notice that on I-85 and I-95 going towards Atlanta and the piedmont of North Carolina... my ears always pop around that area and around the Neuse River Basin and the Haw River... Anyway... that's what I was dreaming of doing but you can't always get what you want, if you try sometimes you get what you need.

SoulRebel, you got something on your nose there, pal. ;)

I don't see why people pander to guys like TenCentArcade, BraveSirRubin and Lodui. You guys are pseudointellectuals who think that what you say is funny. I couldn't believe when I saw BraveSirRubin actually criticizing people for "becoming attatched" to the Hipforums. You guys spend as much or more time fucking around on this site as any one of these other members. Like I told BraveSirRubin, you're not fairing well because you're intelligent, you're fairing well because you're on a website full of predominately unintelligent people. Sure, they're nice people, but the good majority don't know a thing about a thing. I believe you guys come here for that very purpose. "Let us go argue with people we know aren't very intelligent or experienced.". I am really glad that you can get your nut off that way. Go argue with my professor (or any professor for that matter), and see how "top-shelf" you feel then. I don't know if you guys know of Cornell West, but I met with this guy after a lecture and he dwarfed the very same type of psuedointellectual, fat-headed teens I see trying to play "prodigy" here. It was very satisfying to watch, to say the least. You can't really feel that fulfilled by arguing with young teens and "young hippies", can you?

Lodui - You're fairly intelligent as far as I've seen (not as much as I can say for TenCent and BraveSirRubin) and I agree with you on the organic food issue, and the issue of Communism being a total joke (after all, if Communism really worked, why is it that Kruschev had to build a wall to keep E.Germ.s from trying to escape?), but the rest is just a huge lot of subjectivities. A lot of people enjoy home-made crafts, and a lot of people enjoy and believe in the hippie life-style, I strongly doubt a teenager is going to persuade them not to like it with his opinion , but it doesn't seem like you're trying to persuade anyone. It seems as though you're simply trying to be hateful, with no real desired result besides evoking pain and sadness in another. That's a bit twisted. You should learn to respect people. **You have to remember, also, that some people really do get distraught over things someone says on the computer. What you might find to be a joke could be the last straw that broke the camel's back for a suicidal guy or girl. You could be responsible for someone else's death. While that's very unlikely, you are very certainly responsible for hurting the feelings of these aforementioned people. While this is not your problem that they're very emotional, you should understand that what you say, joke or not, could be taken very literally and very seriously to certain individuals. Don't be that guy.**

I know, it's fun for you and your internet buddies to insult people in front of a computer screen, while gathering lost teens for fans (so obviously someone like SoulRebel), but is that kind of behavior really necessary in order for you to get a hard-on?

As for Phish's music,... I've seen you critique another for not liking Jazz, so I assume you believe you're a Jazz Elitist. I strongly doubt that you actually know anything about music, how to play any instrument with any proficiency, or are at all versed in any type of Classical theory, but even in the off chance that someone like you had the capacity to understand such things as tritone harmony, it would still only make you an educated listener with an educated opinion. The music is still subject to opinion - to the ear of the beholder, if you will. You really have no place to stand up and tell another what is good or bad music. This is a free board, where you can use free speech, but critiquing a musician and telling another that you know enjoys this musician's music, the the music is terrible is completely unnecessary, and a total joke. The same thing goes for the poetry. I've read the poetry in the "poetry" forums, and most of it is incredibly beautiful. "Clockwork" was okay, but I certainly didn't find it to be brilliant. I believe it's poorly worded and didn't really make much sense (exactly how are words rigorous? The person saying them may rigorously try to get his point across with them, but words can't be rigorous). I'm being excessively critical now, so I'll just stop. I think I proved my initial point that it's an opinion, anyway. Notice I prefaced an opinion with "I believe". I'm sure to its creator and a lot of readers of it this poem is sheer brilliance, but some poeple feel differently about certain things. You see how this works? I'm actually published in an "All Poetry" compilation book called The Layers of our Souls, but does this make me a good poet? Not really. Its a possibility, but for every one reader who likes it there is another who thinks it's total rubbish. Opinions are opinions are opinions...

The "fact" that pot makes you boring is nothing of the sort. Someone who claims to be intelligent shouldn't word opinions as if they're fact. If you want to say something as stupid as you said, atleast preface it with "I think" or "I believe". I'm a stoner, and have been since I was 13. I graduated valedictorian at my high school, was given a scholarship for classical guitar, and have toured Europe and the Near East several times. If this is a boring person in your opinion, then I would struggle to understand exactly what profound things you've accomplished, so much as to transcend us "boring" stoners. Stoner Steve who doesn't leave his home is probably a very boring young man, but that's one stoner, and again, for someone who claims the brilliance you claim, this was a pretty stupid comment. Preface your opinions with "I think", and then you'll have some ground to stand on.

I admit fully that I only read the first 20 pages of this 100-something page long, exhausted thread, but this excessive length is actually an attest to everything I said in paragraph one. I don't want to truely insult anyone, and I'm sure I've gotten a bit mean-spirited in this thread, but it's all in "good fun", right? (no, it's really not) I'm not saying that you (Lodui), or BraveSirRubin or TenCentArcade are total idiots, but I am saying that you act like children very often, are fairly arrogant (with no real basis, I might add..I'm intelligent, but I'm not arrogant because it takes more than what any of you, or I have to even closely justify a level or arrogance at which you've peaked) and are mean-spirited for no real reason at all, besides maybe the fact that you get off on it. I would just simply ignore people like you (even though at times you have something good to say), but apparently the option doesn't want to work for me! Such is life, I suppose. :D

Okay, after thinking about it, in retrospect a lot of what I said was uncalled for and totally disgusting. That's not like me, or at all who I am, and I apologize. Just try to respect people and their beliefs and life-choices, and try to use this website responsibly, that's all I ask of you.

Orsino, tritone harmonization is actually a seperate form of harmony theory. Triads are just three notes to form the first basis for a chord. But, yeah, Jazz can be a really great style, but contempo fusion Jazz is so outside the box of the constuction standards of composition and phrasing that it's really dissonant, and therefore sounds very "off" to me... you don't use a diminished based melody behind any type of major chord progression, ... unless, ofcourse, you're a Jazz fusion player. These guys don't care what is dissonant. They find it to be original. That's fine, I like the fact that we're all different, but some of that music is just off to me, just really out of place.

Anyway, yeah, Soulrebel, or brownnose, as I think I'll call you from now on ( just kidding), Berkeley is college in Los Angeles based mainly in medical courses, where as Berklee is a music school in Boston where people like Steve Vai and Jeff Beck attended. It's a great school to attend if you're a guitarist and you enjoy Jazz and Classic Rock. If you're into neoclassical, shred and into learning more performance based classes, then G.I.T. (Guitar Institute of Technology) in Los Angeles is a good bet.

Blackie - Yeah, Des Moines is not that great, I used to live in Memphis, and was born in St.Louis. I enjoyed Memphis best. I won't get into how I ended up here. Memphis was simply the most beautiful place, with the most soul on the planet. What do you expect from the home of the blues? People in Des Moines are very uptight,... they have their opinions, and they voice them all over the city as if you care what they have to say about you and your life. But, if you're going to call me a dumbass, atleast come up with a reason why I'm a dumbass, rather than just coming up with a one liner and running off into the depths of the internet.

I thought you said you wanted to go to school in L.A., I guess I missed the part where you talked about wanting to go to berkeley (sometimes I dead scan). You better be more than just up-to-par if you're wanting to succeed in Berkeley, that's for sure. My friend Jumpei goes to Berkeley, and his I.Q. would be 2,000 if that were a possibility. The people I've met who attend are simply amazing... truely prodigies (this time they're actual prodigies).

---You've since stopped kissing ass? A midnight revelation?
