I'd like to say something about hippies, the real ones that were accually there and DID something, so you could grow your hair long and have rights in a court of law, and drink your soda pops n sit on your butts and say we failed, how did we fail? you are here to bitch about whatever your want or don't want. I did my part, I fed hunderds of people a day and took care of kids and protested and was beaten so you can sit here and bitch.. your say we smoke pot and do nothing, well I for one am tired and payed my dues to be here,. Like most my age, we paved the road for you kids and some lost their lives in the process, the ones that made it out alive don't condone drug use, and if they do smoke pot it's better for you than poping valium or zanax or what ever the popular drug of choice is..I sadly shake my head think all I went through was for not..yes we pray for peace, we dont want our son/grandsons and daughters sent off the be killed in wars not of our making. I lost a husband in Nam and two husbands to drugs, I don't want to see either in this universe..if you think that make my a stuoid hippie, you need to have a near death experience to wake you up..

Oh give me a break. Don't compare the hippie movement to that of the sacrifice of soldiers. Hippies didn't sacrifice their lives for our current freedoms, soldiers did.

On a side note, I don't think you're a "stupid hippie."

 

what about kent state, or the ones killed in protest rallies, when you grow up you might realize what sacifices we as parents yes even hippie parents make sacrifices for their kids.. If we hadn't faught for our rights back then you wouldn't have any now, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.. and I don't want to be president, I'm not trained for the job.<shameless>

That's not necessarily true. You act as if there were no human rights before the hippie movement. Now the Civil Rights Movement and Women's Liberation Movement really accomplished things. That's a different story.

Rights in the court of law, what'da ya mean... the hippies weren't at the forefront of wither the womens rights or the black rights movement... sure there were some hippies there... but that doesn't mean you getta claim the movements... and I could sit around and bitch anytime... I'd be accomplishing as much as the hippies ever did.

'Nam got to expensive thats why we left, it didn't have anything to do with you. You just sat around chanting, which is fine, but dont get melodramatic about it all, you didn't have any effect on my 'freedoms.'
