she wasn't planning marriage with the guy. the guy broke up with her, then a girl who called her claimed that her and the OP's ex were getting married. reading is your friend!

i agree with this. maybe it's not hard fact, but i do believe it's an opinion based on observation. also i can attest to adults downplaying the emotions of teenagers and it contributing to a feeling of wanting to grow up faster, just so i could be taken seriously for once. when i was 17 all i needed was someone to listen to me; yeah, looking back, my problems at 17 are small potatoes in the grand scheme of my life, but at the time it was pretty devastating to me at the time, and i feel like if someone had listened and not been condescending, perhaps i would have bounced back quicker than i did. what anyone feels at ANY age is valid, because we're all humans growing and developing constantly. no one is ever "done growing" so instead of downplaying teenagers and making them feel like no one wants to listen, why can't we treat them like humans? that might just contribute to making the world a better place. that's my $0.02

well said. emotions at that age can and do have a more profound effect on one's self than they would on an older adult. One of the greatest mistakes is downplaying these emotions.

as for advice, it will take time to heal, but you'll get over it and be a better person for it. if you want, you can try meditating.. it really helps you relax and forget about all your negative emotions, and realize how pointless they are.
