In 30 years? You would breath a whole lot better without them.

I used to be a smoker. I haven't had a ciggy in over two years. I still crave them once in a while, craved one last night actually. I wish I could be one of those people who has a ciggarette one day a week, but no, I can't be a casual smoker. Once I realized this, I made the decision to quit. I am so much better for it.

When and if you ever want to quit, there is this amazing book called "Allan Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking". You can smoke while you read the book, and if you read the entire thing, by the end of the book, you won't have any desire to smoke anymore. I quit smoking using easy way, as did my entire family.

    For now, enjoy your darts.

^to you who reccomended that, I am a casual smoker :) I haven't smoked in three days, and before that two weeks. I'm not addicted, but when I get really really on edge they keep me from going psycho and make me feel like a happy person :)

Ive been smoking on and off for 20yrs. Most the off time is because I was under a vigorous routine of activity without any sort of health problem...
now I smoke and regret every single time I light up. they most certainly make every ache and pain worse.
I had quit hardcore a few years ago when I actually drove and drove on the interstate til I reached Tennessee and took a bunch of mushroom in the middle of "you got a purty mouth" country. Was good for about 5/6 months later but fell into the cig grip again. Allan Carr's book is a few dollars at the store. Think I might try it.

I highly recommend it to anyone that tells me they want to quit smoking orison. People don't want to quit, that's their choice too.

My daddy was on the champix? Tablets.

They numb the receptors in your brain that crave nicotine.

He took them for two weeks and never smoked again. That's been almost 7 maybe more years now. Before this he was 1 or more packs a day.

He still has the packet he last had, sitting somewhere. He says he hasn't really quit, just hasn't needed one in seven years. =p

i was a casual smoker .. the addiction creeps up on you. they are extremely addictive and terrible for you. i used to smoke crystal meth once too, and it was far easier to quit methamphetamine than it was cigarettes. i still crave a cigarette every now and then .. but when i have one its fuckin disgusting. been a non smoker for about 2 years now. my electronic vaporizer tastes wayyy better.

if cigarettes actually taste good to you or even bearable your already on a slippery slope ...

aw how cute, I loved cigarettes like you when I was young too. I quit for the first time when I was 19 and I haven't enjoyed them since, for a few years after it was just a habit I fell back into because I can't drink alcohol without getting a massive craving for one. So I would quit for a few months, have a drink, and get addicted again. I basically thought they were disgusting during this whole on again/off again relationship. It was a textbook abusive relationship.

then I had this horrible asthma attack caused by smoking. I could have died - I was camping when it started, I ran out of breath hiking out, blacked out for a moment. This is what smoking does to you when you get old.

ill still have one every once in a while when I'm drunk and my will is weak, but the thought of smoking just on a normal day without alcohol involved makes me want to vomit and then inhale my entire asthma inhaler.

    I quit.

Smoked one last night, such that I might plausibly deny the presence of other types of smoke.

My mouth hurts (might have helped if I'd remembered to brush my teeth - I think I'm going to rinse with oil, and get any remaining cancerous bits out).

As to quitting, such undertakings require long and short term strategies, but the short term one is especially simple - you are always totally free in the choice you make right at this moment - it's not hard to make a choice, because you don't have to stick with it - it doesn't matter when you last did or didn't smoke, or anything else - all that matters is that you're choosing not to at this moment.

Obviously it's not a sustainable way of approaching things if you're especially obsessive and it doesn't get better over time, but it breaks things down about as far as you can. Don't use the past as an excuse (ie. I already smoked one anyway), and don't use the future as a reason, just choose not to at this moment.

We're nothing but a series of choices - but you don't have to worry about the series, just the current choice.

Take life one millisecond at a time.
